I still want to see Thatcher Hurd pitching for LSU!

Hoping that happens as he's Friday night stuff in the SEC!

IMO the first thing he needs to do is get a pitching coach. Not too many portal pitchers are gonna want to commit not knowing who they are working with.

I’ve heard he’s been interviewing/talking with some pitching coaches the past few days. No names on who though.

Yea I figure he knows the importance to hiring the pitching coach in order to get a few portal pitchers.

Why would he leave UT to come here? I assume they could match anything we would offer.

ETA: it would certainly fit what Jay is likely looking for. From the west with recruiting ties in LA and Texas.

Regardless if he gets a look here, it’ll be interesting to see if any UT arms hit the portal.

Reading twitter, sounds like their fans have been unhappy with the lack of development on the staff and none of them seem surprised that he was let go.

He was the hitting coach for awhile and moved to pitching coach to make room for tulo. So maybe he isnt as sterling as i was thinking

I’ll take a package deal if he brings Tanner Witt with him.

I think you go for him, even if you name him recruiting coordinator/pitching coach and still look for a pitching coach. Nailing down Allen would help with momentum in the portal and draft risks. I could see some cold feet if we stick with 2 open positions for too long. Not saying to rush into a risky hire, but nail down a good one if you can as quickly as possible. Allen is a good one.

ETA: I alluded to Allen when I mentioned UT as the #1 defense in the country. Someone said, "Oh but they have good players, so duh." Well, he's responsible for getting the dudes in and also for solidifying that defense. I see him as a very valuable option that can help us in alot of areas.
