Who are the 2020 high school kids committed to LSU....no JUCO, just kids graduating from high school? I’m curious to see if a couple that were committed as freshmen are still in the fold.

The ones listed in the first post in the thread. They’re listed in the chronological order in which they committed.

Agree

It's kind of dumb though, because then you see a shuffling of guys the summer before their senior year. And another smaller shuffling around draft time.

For the kids that had offers that don't develop much through high school, it really sucks. Options are alot more limited getting processed in baseball.

I don't know. If it knocks them down to the JUCO ranks, it could be a blessing in disguise. Two seasons each year, more practice time, more scholarships. More of a development atmosphere rather than a win-now atmosphere. And it keeps their 4 year college options open.

edited for clarity

Something seriously wrong with this 2022 class. Not one 5'x" player yet. We're doomed.

That makes sense... guess I was thinking more along the lines of another opportunity around the same level they originally signed. Hell, JUCO for baseball is a great place to be.

I am legitimately curious to see how our most recent commit getting football offers affects anything.

Couldn't agree more.

There is industry speculation that the Minor Leagues will contract as teams become more efficient in figuring out whether a player is going to be good or not. This reduction in levels would probably bring about a reduction in draft picks.

Overall, I think this would push more players to other levels of baseball. I think JUCOs specifically would see big boom. I have a lot of thoughts as to why, but I don't have time to go into it now unfortunately. I'll try to add more to this later.

any real legit shot at getting Romo or Crews to LSU.

Romo will most likely sign. Catchers are a premium position and teams will go after the better ones early and often.

Crews doesn't have a large frame right now and will need to put on some weight. His build reminds me a ton of Stevenson coming out of high school, it remains to be seen if a team is willing to take a chance on him really early.

I haven't seen verification on Twitter yet, but LSU may have just gotten a 2022 OF commit from Pennsylvania. Highly rated Paxton Kling is showing as a commit on Perfect Game. I'll add him to the list when I see something verifying it on Twitter.

ETA: Just added him to the list.

Surprisingly no commits from the weekend. I don't have any inside info, but I imagine it was used as a recruiting weekend for the staff (if the recruiting calendar allows).

I think we are looking to add more players to the 2020 class in anticipation of draft losses. I could see a JUCO catcher being brought in.

I will be on out of pocket for about 10 days starting tomorrow. So if any news breaks, please post it. If any commitments happen, I will update the lists when I get back.

No LSU news at this time, but I've been reading more about what Wake Forest has done with their pitching lab, especially now since LSU is building one. It's pretty incredible the way they're leveraging it for the program. They're doing an analytics based camp where they will run players through the specific drills with wearables and everything to show them how they capture and use the data (meanwhile capturing data on a bunch of potential recruits that could net them some diamonds in the rough): LINK

They also offer the option to use their pitching lab (for a fee) even if you aren't associated with the program.

Perfect Game just re-did their class rankings. Here is an article about the 2022 class: LINK

quote:

21. Paxton Kling, of, Roaring Spring, Pa. (Louisiana State)
Uncommitted and ranked outside the Top 1000 just a few months ago, Kling has used an outstanding summer and fall to leap all the way to No. 21 in the latest edition of the 2022 player rankings. The now-Louisiana State commit has plenty of twitch and athleticism in the frame and turned heads at the WWBA Underclass World Championship in October with a loud double to the opposite gap and quickness that makes him an asset in the outfield. The Pennsylvania native shined in both the Underclass World Championship and the 15u WWBA National Championship in July. Between the two events, Kling batted .468 with three home runs, 14 RBI and 18 stolen bases.

quote:

126. Wyatt Wiatrek, rhp, Sinton, Texas (Louisiana State)
A recent Louisiana State commit, Wiatrek used impressive pitching performances at both the 15u South National Championship and PG 15u World Series to vault into the 2022 player rankings, settling in at No. 126 in this week’s latest edition. The Texan caught the attention of scouts this summer with a 90 mph fastball and plenty of strength and athleticism in the 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame. The righthander shows excellent command of a three-pitch mix and was an integral part of a championship run for Texas Twelve down in Dallas. With so much strength in the young frame, Wiatrek could turn out to be one of the biggest risers by the time this class finishes their high school career.

LSU picked up a big time JUCO RHP in Beck Way tonight. Mid 90s guy. Pitched in division 2 last year. Will add him to the list Monday. Way plays at Northwest Florida State.
