Thanks. Sorry about that. I never looked in the most obvious place.

Project, you ever find where Willis is playing this summer? Also, Torres still hasn’t shown up for summer ball, wonder if he’s another ghost.

I haven't. A couple of Cape teams never released their rosters prior to the start of the season, so we won't know if he's going there until he's activated or until LSU says something. I have a feeling he's going there if for no other reason than scouts would have requested that he go there.

And I saw that Torres was taken off the Gaithersburg roster. I guess it's possible that he shows up on the Danville Dans roster since we won't be sending Mathis there any longer.

Still waiting to see Threadgill get innings in Gaithersburg and to see when Kaminer is going to start pitching in South Florida.

I’m interested to see any update on Torres. He’s got the feel of one of those guys who never show up. Hard to come by info on him, not many updates at events in the last year

Sanford’s doing pretty well thus far.

Travinksi’s showing both a ton of power and swing and misses

And to not much of a surprise Doughty is tearing the cover off the ball 10/19 in 5 games.

re: LSU Baseball 2019 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread
Any chance we bring in another middle infielder (preferably SS) since we are thin after losing Josh Smith, Broussard, Hinds and Cairo? I'm thinking JC transfer or grad transfer maybe?

re: LSU Baseball 2019 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread
Hinds wasn't a middle infielder and we have 2 more committed beyond Doughty.

Why is everyone so intent on replacing guys already in the fold?

I'll preface this by saying I have no inside information whatsoever. But I think they're looking at one kid from LSUE and one kid from Pearl River.

re: LSU Baseball 2019 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread
I think people just don’t want to see Hughes with a major role next season unless he improves at the plate and I think that’s fair. If you can get a versatile juco infielder who can hit, there is no reason not to. You don’t want to go into next season hoping a couple guys who hit sub .200 and a freshman can takeover your infield. That’s asking a lot.

re: LSU Baseball 2019 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread
But people are dismissing everyone in the recruiting class not named Doughty. And also assuming a high level JUCO transfer is just sitting there waiting for us to call him.

The reality is that there aren't any JUCO sophomores available right now that would produce at a level that would make some of these idiots happy.

The guys I think we are looking at were both freshmen last season, and neither of them are shortstops.

It's also tiring to hear the constant shitting on Hughes.

A good bit of info lacking on the rest of the infield class so I don’t think fans are expecting much from them. I wonder why Biggs isn’t on a summer team

Im guessing without saying a name you’re talking about the kid with ungodly stolen base numbers?

No, that kid is heading to Southeastern it looks like.

I guess I was mistaken about there not being any JUCO sophomores available. They may be looking at one shortstop out in California.

The LSUE kid is Evan Keller, who looks like he's a pretty nice offensive player (he hit .389 with 43 stolen bases this year). But he's not a power hitter and a .935 fielding percentage is a little on the shaky side. I don't know that he's better than Cranford or Biggs (you could always use Biggs as an infielder).

The Pearl River JC kid is Austen Izzio, and he's 6-2 and 195 which is a nice frame. He's got power (.332 with 10 HR's this year), and he just finished his freshman year so he'd have three years of eligibility. But if Keller's .935 wasn't a good fielding percentage Izzio's .857 is really suspect.

I don't know if there's a great JUCO take out there as an infielder. I think your best option might be to go with Dugas at second and Doughty at short, let Cranford and Biggs back them up, and then have Bianco, Willis and Torres fight it out for third. I don't know who I'd run off to get either one of these two JC kids in here (other than Hughes, but I'm figuring they run Hughes off anyway).

He's signed with Southeastern. The one we're evaluating is Jack Merrifield.

Merrifield is interesting. He can hit some. You like 51 RBI's in 135 at bats - that's somebody who gets it done with RISP.

I don't know that he's better than Cranford or Biggs either, though. Our fans would lose their minds if we ran a kid out there in the infield who had a .902 fielding percentage.

My guess is you might be happier taking a senior transfer from somewhere.

Have you seen Bianco’s fielding percentage from high school? He had a .796 fielding percentage his senior year and we still had fans wanting him to get time at second or third.

Oh it was apparent. The fielding has got to improve for Drew to sniff the field.

Merrifield is an interesting prospect.

That’s why I always wanted to see him at catcher, but there is still a logjam there

If he had the same hitting stats Beloso did (.280, 10 HR) he would have been fine at 2nd base.

I do wish that budget-ass league he's playing in would publish box scores so I can see what position he's playing this summer. He's listed as a Catcher.
