Texas will look to climb back into the top tier of college football in 2018.

The Longhorns finished the 2017 regular season with just six wins and six losses, another down season for the proud program. The 2017 campaign marked head coach Tom Herman's debut season with Texas. Texas will face Missouri in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27.

Herman's rebuild should receive a boost from the Longhorns' 2018 recruiting class, which is set to be finalized in the coming weeks. Entering the week of Dec. 18, the Longhorns have commitments from one five-star prospect and several four-star prospects.

Take a look at how Texas' recruiting class is shaping up below. All ratings are according to 247 Sports.

BJ Foster, S, Angleton (Texas) - 5 stars (Signed)

Anthony Cook, CB, Lamar (Texas) - 4 stars (Committed)

Caden Sterns, S, Steel (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Jalen Green, CB, Heights (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Brennan Eagles, WR, Alief Taylor (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

DeMarvion Overshown, S, Arp (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Al'vonte Woodard, WR, Lamar (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

D'shawn Jamison, CB, Lamar (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Ayodele Adeoye, ILB, IMG Academy (Fla.) - 4 stars (Committed)

Keondre Coburn, DT, Westfield (Texas) - 4 stars (Committed)

Keaontay Ingram, RB, Carthage (Teas) - 4 stars (Committed)

Junior Angilau, OT, East (Utah) - 4 stars (Signed)

Cameron Rising, QB, Newbury Park (Calif.) - 4 stars (Signed)

Malcolm Epps, TE, Dekaney (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Rondale Moore, WR, Trinity (Ky.) - 4 stars (Signed)

Casey Thompson, QB, Newcastle (Okla.) - 4 stars (Signed)

Rafiti Ghirami, OT, Wakeland (Texas) - 4 stars (Signed)

Byron Hobbs, OLB, Eastern Hills (Texas) - 3 stars (Signed)

Cameron Dicker, K, Lake Travis (Texas) - 3 stars (Signed)

Ryan Bujcevski, P, ProKick Australia (Australia) - N/A (Signed)

This is just the early signing period. We ain't done yet. But the next round should be full of dt and oline. Would be an awesome class.

Texas needs to concentrate on winning their bowl game, thus giving them their first winning season in 4 years.

3 linemen combined on that class. Texas needs a lot more help than some WR’s, Herman better get to work.

Has Goodrich visited LSU or does he plan to? All I see is a OV for UGA in January.

This was my analysis of whatever bowl game Mizzou made it to, well before any matchups were announced:

Mizzou had to go on a run to even make a bowl, they're going in with a ton of positive momentum and something to play for. Whoever they play will be disappointed in their season and will come in with no motivation. Mizzou will roll.

Texas being their opponent only strengthens my opinion.

two offensive linemen. Cool. Nice ratings but it's not a sustainable way to build a team.

Lot of flash and not much beef in that class. LSU knows about that the last few years...helps in the rankings, does not always translate to a championship caliber team though. Just sayin'

I heard he has an OV to LSU on his birthday after the dead period. I can't seem to find anything on any of the sites to substantiate that though

I guess UT can't teach math either. How are you going to stock up on linemen in the second signing period with 5 spaces open. Since the Big 12 is a glorified 7on7 league you don't need lineman; right!
