Texas CB Anthony Cook inks with the Longhorns.

Side note: LSU slowed down its recruitment of Cook in recent weeks, after identifying Mario Goodrich as its primary target. They had Jalen Green and Goodrich ahead of Cook on its board.

the question for these types of stories is did LSU back off because they wanted other players over him or did they back off because they just became aware he was most likely headed to Texas?

Goodrich eased ahead of Cook on our board when Cook appeared to be Austin bound.

Shea mentioned this a while back. They felt Goodrich has more versatility.

I prefer Goodrich and Surtain. Both are long, rangy, athletic freaks

Probably a little bit of both. They knew Texas was still ahead, and after identifying Mario, they liked him a lot and saw little to no drop off between him and Cook. So they probably made a decision to go all in on Mario instead of maximizing time and effort to flip Cook.

It was probably more related to Goodrich showing interest.

Absolutely false. Just because a guy is rated by these services as a five star doesn't mean that our coaching staff is 100% sold on him. Remember the ratings are subjective and if the staff has done their own evaluation and feel that person isn't a fit for their program, then they'll pass. What Jimmy is reporting is 100% true and not a "we want to save face" kind of thing.

Coach Eaux has repeatedly said he does not back off a player he wants until said player sends his LOI to the other school.

He did fall in the rankings as well. So maybe others did their evaluations too.

Go watch his film to see what it looks like to drop interceptions. Goodrich has the ball skills and athleticism to become a great addition at DBU.. or you can just keep stargazing on rivals

Try harder. Cook is a solid talent, but we're all in for Surtain and Raymond liked Goodrich better.

Fact.

So enjoy your class full of WRs and DBs while y'all get dominated in the trenches, per usual.

Tell Tom his hair plugs are looking nice this week

Don't most of the Texas analysts think Green is better than Cook?
