Uhm, Simmons relationship to Patrick is a tie... all of these coaches relationships with AAU teams is considered ties

Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts in 1988.

I agree, Simmons has a tie.
However, relationships developed in the course of recruiting are not "ties" as I see them. That is a coach doing his job.

The relationship isn’t with the prospect. It’s with the AAU coach. That’s just as if not more important.

I don't think you and I are talking about the same thing.

I’m saying that relationships with anyone involved with the recruits process is a tie. Having a previous relationship with a kids AAU coach, HS coach or whoever their handler is, is a tie. Basically when you look at anyone we’ve landed, you’ll see that Wade or a member of the staff has had some sort of relationship with the people in the prospects circle. Nobody is random

And I’m saying that is too broad. Coaches should have those ties. That’s their jobs.
I’m referring to ties outside of the recruiting world, like a relative, a girlfriend, etc. something coincidental.

We seem to be hotter on the trail for 2020 guys than 2019 guys right now

Yea. We need to grab a couple guys in the 2019 class but I think it's pretty obvious the staff likes the 2020 guys a lot. I think that class could be another really special class but Im intrigued to see what the staff does with 2019.

I think the 2020 class is a lot more special than 2019. The 2019 class seems to be more of a foundation building class with guys like Avery Anderson, C.J. Walker, Tyreek Smith, etc, while 2020 may be another top-loaded class

With 2019 not being a loaded class, this actually may benefit us in the long run. Guys like Walker, Tyreek Smith, Avery Anderson are solid guys who could stay for 2-4 years. They will be the link between the loaded classes of 2018 and 2020.

your not going to see kids waste 2 or 3 years to play in college doesn't make since for them, 2 years and they will bounce If they're not playing.

Maybe , maybe not......Just because someone is a 3-4 year player doesn’t mean they don’t play in years 1-2.

Some kids actually go to school for an education too. They are good enough players to contribute early on. I’m saying they aren’t 1 and done types like Naz or someone like that.
Not sure how they are “wasting” 2-3 years when they are getting coached up by Wade.

Shaq coming to LSU was so much more than just meeting each other. It was the letters from Germany that Shaq sent to Coach Brown, and Brown's replies to him. It was the willingness of Coach B to work with him as a 12-13 year old kid, regardless of the then 6'6'' kid was going to commit to college. It is what has been missing in today's college BBall, a coach who coaches so much more than just basketball. I can kinda see that in Coach Wade, another reason I have loved his hiring!
