The simple truth of the matter is that LSU has an awesome support system for these kids. The staff expects a whole lot and the majority of them can't survive the rigors of being a student athlete at any SEC univ without help on multiple levels. LSU's academic center isn't just a nice and expensive place to get tutored, it is a truly great place to spend the bulk of a student's time. When we hear about how Les does very well with recruit's parents it is mainly because he know how to sell these advantages to the player's parents.
Every individual has a unique story but I just believe that the bulk of the failures that do not involve a lack of talent can be traced back to that young man leaving his local support system (family influence, HS coaches and teachers who truly care and can go out of their way for him) and going to a place where he does not have the support system in place that he needs to avoid the many temptations that every student athlete (especially FB players) face on a daily basis.
Without even considering the actual football aspect of their decision, it really does matter where these parents send their kids to college and the very worst places are great at hiding their shortcomings.
