As of right now, based on 247 sports, LA does not have a single 5* recruit. With the highest rated player being 4* #66 overall #11 WR Kayshon Boutte. I can't remember the last time we had no top 32 5* players in our class.

LINK

It's a little disheartening to see after such a strong 2019 class with 4 5* players. Luckily we have a few 5* from out of state that LSU is in the mix for. If we keep winning the recruits will come. It is very early to judge these recruits and time will tell how good they are.

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

The 2017 Class was so long ago, that I almost forgot about it myself.

2017 - no 5* from LA

I believe shelvin was a 5* for a period of time. Didn't realize he finished as a 4*

2013 had no LA 5* either... I’m sure there are several other “recent” classes.

Most kids have not even been evaluated yet.

It’s early in the process.

Rankings fluctuate, give it time after the camp circuit.

TJ Finley will probably be a 5 star if he continues to improve.

The good news is this is probably the best QB class we had in a long time in the state. TJ is a 4 star. Keilon Brown and Caleb Holstien will probably shoot to 4 stars.

There is good mix of positions in the top 25 at WR, DT, QB, and LB I think next year a few of those guys will get a bump. The more concerning thing with this class is how many of these guys can we sign.

I could have sworn you said in other threads about how closely you follow recruiting every year and all the research you do...

Aren’t there like double digit WR in state that have 4 stars. One of them could jump up to five star status.

A bit too soon for this I think. Lots of camp circuits and everything else considered.

Do you know that this time last year, Louisiana’s 2019 class only had one 5 star? Ishmael Sopsher was the lone 5 star. As camp season came around, Several LA recruits jumped up the rankings, most notably Derek Stingley and John Emery. The same thing will happen to the 2020 class.

Never mind. Kardell Thomas was also a 5 star. My bad.

Don’t believe that for a second. 2020 is an extremely strong year in state. Jakhi Douglas, Jacobian Guillory, Kayshon Boutte, and Ashaad Clayton all elite level prospects. Then you’ve got guys who have incredible ceilings like TJ Finley, JaQuelin Roy, Brandon Williams, Joel Williams, and Daran Branch. Next year is absolutely loaded, don’t put much into rankings this far out.

Sure is and it has some decent depth of positions as well. Not loaded up at one or two spots. DL/WR/QB is loaded. Lacking on the OL and RB. But we'll have some emerge and also sign some OOS guys. This class may have more 4*s than anything but still a great class to load up with quality depth. Maybe one of those years we have one or two 5*s but 10 or more 4*s. That's pretty dang good considering we normally get around 6 to 7 3*s. That leaves you with like 6 players left to sign. Seems normal to me. If LSU does well against GA and Bama then we'll likely get who we want this year and next. Not worried bc this staff knows how to evaluate talent.
