Wasn't the reason to hire the new safety coach, for Raymond to focus on the corners and recruiting. This kid is a pure db and killing it at camps and has no lsu offer.

Stop being a pussy. Until he camps at LSU he will not get an offer.

quote:Just because a kid is commmitting 10 mos, or 8 mos depending how you look at it, before signing day doesn't mean coaches aren't doing their jobs. Long way to go.

quote:Indeed he has. And other poster is correct, for LSU offer (this early) he needs to camp with us. If he doesn't, he'll get offer later when there's more info/eval/film to look at instead.

I dont think LSU has the luxury of witholding any offers from corners this year. Better to pass them out indescriminately than not.

quote:oh, I do agree with that. He, and many others, should have offers. I just don't think you can criticize coaches over a kid committing to somewhere else at this time.

I do think some kids should be lured with late offers. But the majority, by far, that's a bad strategy.
I hate the strategy you mention at any rate, whether it's Les or Orgeron. Liberal with offers, limited/ruthless with acceptance. I've heard "business decision" so much it's time to make it clear that it is just that... for both parties. You gotta pick your battles, but to be heels-dug-in on one side, that costs you advantages, is not a winning strategy in my book.

Why don't you contact the LSU staff about him? They'll surely appreciate your superior evaluation skills and inside knowledge of recruiting.

What does the missing guy from The Goonies have to do with college football?

So lsu does not offer kids unless they camp now?
Posted on 4/1/18 at 7:06 pm to LsuTool
quote:Seems the preference has increased with Orgeron. Obviously not in all cases. For the record, I'm one of those that thinks every 5* should have an offer, period. And at positions of need not named QB, P, K every 4* for that matter. Then be selective on accepting commits... at camps if you want.
So lsu does not offer kids unless they camp now?
Miles preferred it, but the link to offers seemed less strong. Miles just insisted on talking to the parent/guardian; these often were at camps. And, I can point to a couple of "misses" where LSU wanted them to camp, they didn't, offered (eventually) anyway, and it didn't pan out.
But there's not enough of those to justify any prerequisite.
I sort of understand it for an out-of-state kid (or QBs). But an in-state, NOLA, 4*, position of need, I don't get a camp prerequisite at all. We should have plenty of input and eval. If no one has seen him play, we have issues.
You do have to allow that a recruit, no matter his ranking, isn't that good and they have seen enough. In Kimbrough's case- just no. No fricking way.
Also have to allow for the 'slow play', which I prefer to see as 'late offer play'. Some kids will jump on one late when they wouldn't if early. Call it the 'shiny object syndrome', or preferably 'familiarity breeds contempt syndrome'. It happens. We have used it to our advantage before. And it's been used against us before. We don't have enough info to judge that strategy here.

Not all the time. They do try to get to do their own evaluations as they should.

It’s not just about not having enough tape on him or not having a good evaluation of his play. It’s more how he has progressed in the year between that tape and now and how he compares athletically when paired up with other elite athletes.
Also a lot of tapes that get sent in to coaches are highlight tapes. There is a lot of info that gets left out that is needed when all that is shown are the good plays a recruit has made.

Yeah why? Sorry I get tired of people acting like bitches on here and blaming the coaching staff just to bitch. Educate yourself on the process before you start slamming the staff. If you want to be a crying little sissy go to the rant.

quote:Excellent point. That progression is a huge factor. Definitely looking for recruits to make a step up. I don't care how the competition is in HS, it's always a big leap to SEC football. If it doesn't look like that next step isn't going to be made, for whatever reason, it is a red flag.
