CB-another conundrum but it isn't all bad. The spin around the way it's shaped up is more aggravating than the actual kids. Compounding things are the questions surrounding each kid in the 4 man group. Johnson-transitioning from QB; Woodlands-going from no take to take in a week and then the spin; Causey-SR film wonder who was previously passed on; Foster-small and does he even belong
This is the second post where you aver that Foster does not belong in the class. What exactly is it in your opinion that makes him a pass?
Is it his speed?
Is it his size?
Is it play-making ability?
Is it change of direction/flipping of hips?
Is it his rankings from the "recruiting" sites?
Just curious why you are so down on the kid.

Why did you like Matt House last year but not this year Chalky?
I called Matt house on his schemes last year even when his defensive rankings were better.
I've always said I wasn't a fan of his. Always said he used players wrong. Even last year
You are defending Matthew house??

Nope. WR, LB, and TE recruiting are in great spots. We have a decent shot at two top QBs, including #1 guy. Getting either of these QBs goes a long way to hanging on to the Duncanville kids, especially the ridiculously good WR, Moore.
DL, especially interior, has to be addressed but that was covered by OP.

You need like 8 good to great Dlinemen minimum.
With the way the formation is now with a Jack/Edge, I think a team is fine with having 4 lineman/DT’s to go along with 2 defensive ends with younger guys developing behind them.
We definitely have several edge rushers on the line with Womack and Howard being highly rated. Then they have guys like Wiggins who will hopefully step up.
2024 defensive line starters and projected backups.
NT-Tank/Lee/West
DT-Shand/Langston/Johnson
DE-Jones/Wiggins/Carpenter
Edge-Swinson/Womack/Howard
That’s with Smith and Wingo going pro, I think that Shand is big enough to play tackle, let’s hope guys like Wiggins will be ready to step up.

I’m not going to lie, I was not ready to get rid of House just yet at the middle part of the season but at this point, I think it’s time to move on.
There are better options out there, much better and LSU should have the best, not settle for someone that’s good. I think House is good but not great or elite. LSU deserves and should have elite assistants.
This is a top 5 program in the country and we’ve shown that we can produce some of the best offenses in the history of the game. We’ve also proved, for years, that LSU is a defensive powerhouse or has the ability to get to that point.
There are people out there that do all the analytics for us, we just have to reach out and get their information, bring in the top 5 DC’s by statistics, interview those guys and make the hire. House was actually an average coach, per these analysts information and so were all the defensive assistants, except Cain. Cain was considered elite. The new DL coach is considered average. On the other hand, our offensive staff, per these same analytics, were all considered good to great. Brian Kelly was the best HC available the year we hired him.
I was extremely skeptical at first, but the last two years have shown these analytics persons info to be legitimate. Guess who hired these analytics guys? Tulane pays these guys to find a list of coaches available and hired the guys they recommended. Look what Tulane is doing?!?!
If I’m LSU, or the AD at LSU, I’m absolutely calling these guys and paying them for their information. I’d get a list of the best 5 to 10 coaches at each defensive position. I’d look at the best three, as far as fit then interview those coaches and hire the best one. I’d do that for each position coach. It sure as hell can’t hurt and we have the money to pay them for that information.
Supposedly their info is a collective from the last 8-10 years, so it’s recent and should be accurate as hell. One of the best coaches on that list is Derrick Mason and I think he would be a great fit at LSU. He know the SEC, has HC experience, is fairly young and is a great communicator for these young athletes.
There are a ton of great assistants out there according to this information as well. I say give these guys a chance and let them do all the work that we don’t have the time to do. Not only that but they’ve done this for a decade so the statistics they have is over a long period of time, therefore should be accurate. Go for it.
