Randle's dad call's the shots. he demanded certain things for his son to come here.

I agree about Randle's dad but I also understand how Decarlos Holmes is percieved in Bastrop. All it would have taken was negative feedback from the Randle family and Holmes could put a serious hurt on LSU recruiting around Bastrop. I have no doubt in my mind that when Davis said certain players aren't real happy there it came from the Bastrop pipeline.

I was told that Shiro wanted to be a sports broadcasting major, and the LHN (as fledgling as it is) had to be impressive to him.

Not trying to discredit the kid but if you have ever heard him talk, you know there is no way that he will ever be a broadcaster.

I knew this network crap would start impacting recruiting. Why doesn't LSU do something like this? Too small of a market? SEC won't allow it?

Anyways, no excuse for Davis to string LSU along like that. We could've replaced him with somebody else. Instead, we have to get a extra DE in this class because of him.

do you realize the 5-7 was 2010, not last year and that RGIII is gone? Some of you let hatred cloud you common sense.

Its not impacting it in the way you think. He's not going there because of the exposure or games on TV. He was talking about being able to work there as an intern and gain expirience in broadcasting.

yeah that is what i am trying to figure out. You think the NCAA will make it so kids can not join their desired field? You want them to hurt the Texas Broadcasting department for joining forces with ESPN to provide kids with learning opportunities? I can understand not liking the way things went down, but it seems everyone should be happy a kid is given to chance to follow his desired academic degree and cares about his possible future outside of sports.

well, that might be a lot of horse hockey, but whatever

I think the concerns over the LHN sshowing HS games was legit and hence not allowed

I don't think there are any limitations to what an SEC school can do (currently) to market and sell it's third tier TV rights to be broadcast. So nothing to stop LSU in that respect. The SEC and Big12 are currently similar in how third tier rights are treated....each school owns their rights and can sell them as they see fit. Compare to the Big 10 in which all schools cede all of their third tier TV rights to the Big 10 network for a cut of the network money. I believe the Pac 12 will be the same but have several conference sub-networks instead of a single big one.
That all may change with an SEC Network, in which the schools would likely need to assign their rights to that network for a piece of the $ pie

Many more schools than people realize already do this but usually the networks (1) are only online, and (2) often broadcast only sports not named football. People don't realize how much money schools like Duke, Kansas, UNC have made selling rights to their basketball games that don't get picked up by ESPN, CBS etc. (the first/second tier owners). Gators make some money from the Sunshine Network or something like that.

KState recently announced the start of an online network which I believe will show a football game each season as well as non-revenue sports. Is it the same as the Longhorn Network - in some aspects, yes as it is a simple sale of third tier rights...in other ways no, just from public perception of the ESPN/UT relationship as compared to an online network.

I wish the LHN was an online network...maybe I could watch it. Supposed to have 32 baseball games on it this spring.

you can't really believe this.

He went there because the h.s. coached pushed him there. This is true as I know it.

The players aren't happy, i'm following my broadcasting dream, ect. are all false cover statements. He can't tell the truth. it's to dirty and ugly.

And, i'm not upset about it. You guy's got him, good for you. there will be another t. davis that will come to lsu. The h.s. coach has been fired, and we don't have to deal with him again.

I don't care why he went to UT. Its a great school, great football program, he likes Austin, he's chasing poon, it doesn't matter. Its the way he did the switch, when LSU couldn't go after someone else that sucks and its disrespectful.

Shiro's HS coach seems like a complete tool..LSU wanting Shiro bad enough means you have to deal with shitty people like that every now & then, I guess.

I thought "Hack" Brown was classier than that, but I guess not. What goes around comes around.
