He is going to a program that has difficulty reaching .500 for a season. All I can say is have fun with that and good luck on the broad casting career. Another school like ND where 4 and 5 stars go to die.

DJ McCarthy and the old coach at Woodlawn are BFF's. DJ felt he was the scapegoat in the Hicks situation.

Payback for RS and RP? Meh, it'll all be fine.

Thoughts?
Was any NCAA rules broken there?

I understand keeping it secret until late. He didn't want to be harassed. Maybe he still wanted to be able to use social media, keep his phone number, etc. If he switched to TX earlier he'd have to deal with the bullshite longer. I hate that he switched, but I completely understand why he did it that way.

This is why I could care less for any junior day commits we get. Let's see how things are next year.

Everyone knows why Davis is at Texas. Let him go rot in mediocrity with the rest of the Longhorns. The depth charts are not unsimilar at all. We'll lose 3 DEs this year likely(if Monty goes pro) and Texas will still have Jeffcoat,Wilson and Okafor at DE unless 1-2 go pro. They also took at least 3 DEs in the class. It's a copout but it's nothing unusual in recruiting. Kids are going to buy into the LHN for a few years while it's up and draws excitement but in all honesty it has been a failure to this point from a subscriber standpoint. ESPN can't get providers to carry it without extra payments so until they cut their asking price or convince providers to pick it up, it will continue to be a failure. Most Longhorn fans can't view it. It is a draw for now but unless a dramatic improvement is made it won't last the life of the contract and ESPN is all business. They'll cut their losses if it doesn't get picked up soon.

Did LSUs coaches stop recruiting him or something?

I can forgive Davis's actions. He is a immature kid who is very impressionable and obviously can easily be steered by the coaches and mentors that surround him.
This is not only an obvious indictment of his coach's poor character, it is an indictment on the coach's at UT and by extension UT on their poor character.
So what did this lie cause? In the end, regardless if Davis lied or not, he would have wound up at UT, because that is where he wanted to go. But who the lie hurt is other potential players that might have selected LSU if Davis was not encourage to lie and actually lie.
This, to me is an indication that UT is not about helping all kids get to the next level. UT is about creating deception so to minimize competing schools recruiting efforts at the expense of other kids. That is truly a very ugly and morally bankrupt side of this whole recruiting process.

As a long time Longhorn, the days that Texas gets a premium recruit out of the state of Louisiana are few and far between. Historically, LSU does a much better job pulling kids from SE Texas.
While I understand the thinking on the part of the Longhorns, I agree with the posters here that the kid should have been up front with the LSU staff so that they could have had time to find someone else.
It honestly reminds me of they Ryan Perrilloux recruitment except in reverse.

What was frustrating about the way he switched is that it created negative publicity about LSU recruiting. A signing day switch of our highest rated player was big news, and made us look silly. Again. And I think it was purposefully negative recruiting towards LSU.
If the dude had a change of heart, I can understand it. He should have notified our staff and said his decision is final, and I would prefer no more phone calls please, thank you.

I really hope that this doesn't have anything to do with LC's girlfriend. I'm so tired of that story
