According to On3, last year, LSU signed 9 of the top 10 players in LA.
This year it’s 5 of the top ten.

Did they not pursue all this year? Was it a down year for talent? More money involved this year? All of the above? None of the above?

Just seems odd and disappointing to me as in-state recruiting has always been a must for LSU

List the current top 10 LA players and each has their own reason for going to the program they committed to. It's not a one size fits all answer. Some answers might be the same, like money but some answers are personal.

Stewart and Harper money. Simon didn’t want to compete with Durham, Berry and Lindsey and Kyle Johnson and Shepard don’t have an LSU offer.

Getting 2/3 of Berry, Lindsey and Simon was a great job, no way all 3 were going to sign with the same school no matter where it was

Welcome to NIL recruiting. Look at the top 10 for other states.

Bama signed 1 guy for AL.

UF and FSU combined for 3 of the top 10 in FL.

USC go 1 guy from the top 10 in CA.

UT and aTm combined for 5 of the Texas top 10.

Relatively, LSU is still recruiting Louisiana better than most other programs in their states.

Different set up than last year. Stewart only wanted money. Harper is a head scratcher. Simon wasn't going to be the 3rd running back taken. Antoine is this years Mack. Washington is following a coach up to Michigan.

Just reading and wondering if anyone has thoughts or insight on the matter. Not giving an opinion at all.

Yeah. As far as I know, most states have multiple P4 schools they have to compete with for players. LSU doesn’t.
And while I understand Simon going, and Harper was about the $ from what I understand (probably Thanos as well), I don’t know about the other 2. - Washington and Antoine
I can’t remember their rationale
