Yea, I don't see how this kid will be anymore ready to play than Moss, Pettigrew, or McMath.

5 catches for 43 yards this year, dude really bursted onto the scene after they offered and he committed to us this summer...le sigh...

Trust me, I'm not defending the staff here. I don't like it anymore than you do. Just letting you know the thinking behind it.

I didn't. I saw that he was 5 for 9 for 78 yards through the air. I understand that he maybe had a drop and a pass interference that is not reflected in the stats, but 5 for 9 for 78 yards certainly doesn't jump off the paper.

Netherly

Netherly is a corner.

McMath is probably viewed as more of a pass catching tight end.

Moss has had something like 3 foot surgeries and cannot be counted on. I won't be surprised if he's not on the roster next year, to be honest.

Moffitt should have never even been offered a scholarship.

Vol swears Scheffer isn't the player the staff thought they are getting, so it appears the coaches are admitting they missed on him.

I think Scott's going to be a stud, but he's pretty raw. Also, he might be more of a pass catching TE like McMath.

Because we need a Tight End that's ready to play next year. Only way I see us dropping McLendon is if Zipperer jumps on board. The offense this year wanted to run A LOT more zone read and TE passes, but with Moreau being the only real viable TE, they didn't want to risk injury to him and being stuck without any good options there. Same for running Joe when Myles shoulder was hurting.

This is why I dont understand why we offered Zach Sheffer and (gasp, ill say it) Aaron Moffit. Then we allowed moss to transfer. If none of them are a threat to play, then WHY are we offering a Juco TE to come in. He will graduate the same time as these guys so all of a sudden in 3 years we will be offering g two or three TEs again.

If Zipperer says no, don’t offer another TE and really evaluate what previous offers to these 6-4 230 lb Te was going to accomplish.

Here’s to hoping Pettigrew Gets healthy and McMath adds some weight and we don’t expend scholarships to guys that will only play special teams.

Issues wjth offering Fullbacks and what do you do wjth hbacks and Blocking TEs

I dont think its that rare to have 6 TEs or so. Im randomly clicking on old rosters. 5 is the general minimum but a lot of years 6 or 7.

You can't count on Moss after this year.

In the end There is no real blocking threat there, and that is where McClendon will help i assume

Basically sounds like we haven't taken a TE worth a crap since Pettigrew 3 years ago. Assuming Parker does end up at OT not TE. PRetty sad recruiting there.

McMath may be of good use as a H-back/flex TE, but it's like after showing us what he could do vs. Ole Miss he went basically missing the rest of the season

Sheffer might just be a miss. It happens.

And I guarantee you know why we offered Moffitt.

What position would Legendre play? There is Lee, Harris, and Tongue to take before him if you want an athlete with an undefined position.

I wish we'd move Scott back to defense. Need him more there than TE

Not a QB on next level, he decommitted from Kansas and his recruitment at QB has never really taken off. He's not really a 4-star prospect as a QB.

This. Been watching LL over the last several weeks during the regular season/ playoffs and have no clue how he has a 4 star QB rating. A 4 star rating would have probably been more appropriate as an athlete vs. QB. Group of 5 maybe QB Power 5 not even close.

247 has him personally as an 89 3-star and if you ask the mods why he even gets that high a rating it's simply due to being a great athlete.

I agree, but from the practice videos I saw, he looked kind of lost on defense. He looked very slow and unathletic. And I know from watching his high school and 7v7 highlights that he's very fast and very athletic.

I think these type of te's have a place on the field if you are going to try to bulk them up a LITTLE bit and use their length as an advantage. The staff however seems to love to recruit them and then immediately sit them when they don't magically turn into 270-285 lb mini tackles. So frustrating. Our passing stats are abysmal and yet here we are investing in te that hasn't shown he can catch the ball. I still shake my head at having Dillon Gordon out there at 300 pounds. Happy he donned the purple and gold but man it limits the passing game so much.

The problem is that I see 6 TE/FB returning. I don't see how we need another unless someone is "leaving".

The lsusports.net roster shows him at OLB. Is that not correct?

I still just have no clue why they are signing T.K. McClendon tomorrow.

Same reason we’re signing all the others - the coaches think he’s good. They were right about some other players the Rant thought sucked - Foster Moreau, Debo Jones Duke Riley, Cushenberry

Excluding McClendon next year, have 6 TEs on the roster (Pettigrew, McMath, Moss, Scott, Moffitt, Sheffler...not even counting Parker), I mean how many do we need?

You forgot to list Saahdiq Charles, Lanard Fournette and Ed Orgeron. That makes 9 tight ends.
