Emery jones is a verified 6044 lol. Not 6’6”.

And you fail to understand what my argument was. It is not that elaborate. Constructing a good OL isn’t about “beating players out”. It’s about creating the best unit by putting the best players on the field together.

Furthermore, players that start and play well generally have to play bad enough to lose their job, and Jones & Campbell were serviceable enough to never have their job be in jeopardy. The idea that Heard never beat them out is just stupid. No shite.

He’s a guard, great run blocker and can pass pro when the guy is right there but sucks arse with speed rush on the edge. And guess what that’s okay but that is just what it is

He didn’t even have to beat our Jones. The staff tried moving Jones inside to RG and playing Heard at RT in three or four games early in the season. We played better with Frazier at Guard and Jones at Tackle, and it wasn’t even close really. Frazier has never been more than average here, but Heard wasn’t good enough as a freshman to create an upgrade over HIS play being on the field. He wasn’t part of our best 5, and that was proven even though you refuse to accept it.

Jones was never going to be a fricking Center. You are out of your damn mind with that.

Most of my family are UT fans and they are all hoping the Vols at least add competition for him at Tackle through the portal. He’s been a massive disappointment for them, especially considering what they are paying him.

Both videos make me think he’s a guard.

I get the “best 5 guys on the field argument” but you still try and put them at the best 5 spots.

Why not? Did you not watch the game last night?
Seriously, if LSU made that mistake twice...please no

When he's healthy & in shape he is broad shouldered, tapered waist athletic mover with long arms. At worst an excellent RT prospect

idk what you’ve watched the last 2 year to set his floor there, I think he’s a guard at worst.

Maybe a RT at best.

lowest graded tackles

I guess that's why we were trying him at guard where he was a mauler. He wants tackle money but has guard feet..

Exactly

And besides, we only want better than what’s on roster when we go to portal. We have depth there on line and looking for special. Plus no need to pay his price

Heard in not a tackle, he is a guard. All day long.

I don’t agree. There is this belief that if a guy is too slow or clumsy to play tackle he can play guard. Guards have to be able to pull and lead sweeps. Agility is required for guards, too. The main difference is arm length is necessary for tackle.

I think Heard is a Right Tackle, and not a very good one.

what a LT or RT has to do in pass blocking is so much harder than what a guard does.

Guards aren’t just tackles with shorter arms.
