Considering he wasn’t playing until fall 2021 anyway, this doesn’t really affect him.

Agree but one can never discount perception especially when it comes to recruiting. You can bet your arse schools will use it against USC and Oregon. The PAC is already in financial trouble(have openly asked for outside funding) and a lack of season further compounds that. The 2 SEC schools at the forefront will definitely be using some kind of perception based negative recruiting regarding that conference. Does it matter? I don't think so but who knows

Doesn’t really affect him. Although he won’t get to see USC team or Oregon’s which could hurt them. Really as of right now our main competitor is Georgia.

Perceptions are different in California. You can just as easily say that people in the South don’t care about their black athletes, etc. So, his recruitment depends on a lot of factors.

Actually you’d have a better argument that they aren’t the ones protecting the kids. These kids want to play or the vast majority. There is zero scientific evidence that these kids will be more than sick for a few days. None have needed a hospital at this point. Schools don’t allow players health insurance to cover any medical bills they may acquire or if or when they get hurt they aren’t cared for financially. Meaning whatever they were worth before the injury, they aren’t given money to help alleviate some of that loss at the very least. But now all of a sudden they’re looking out for the kids? That’s a bunch of BS. They looking out for themselves. Anyone can see that. Another argument could be made that these kids are much safer around each other if the correct protocol is taken. What’s safer? Being around the team or being around a bunch of random people in public? The schools can shelter them and advise them to simply stay around each other, give them mask, sanitizer and knowledge on a daily basis where as if not subjected to be around the people who can help them make the right decisions, they could much easier catch this Virus in everyday life imo. Especially without the help and advice they’d receive from coaches and fellow players. These people aren’t protecting anything but themselves.

Agree with this as well though I'd never bet money in the fickleness of a us kid. Things were trending SEC even before the cancellations, or postponements. It's all just speculation though since we're not even sure when these kids are gonna be able to sign. The whole class, for everyone, is in flux currently because of the unknown.

Not looking for a virus debate, but out of Louisiana's 4,300 virus deaths, there are 19 in the 18-to-29 age group... we can assume that others in that category left the hospital still breathing...

I want football season just as badly as you do, but - don't just make shite up

How many of this 0.4% group were obese or had underlying conditions that these athletes don't have?

Maybe, but if we are gonna use obesity as a deciding factor, I present to you thousands of football players that are technically obese according to ride height weight charts doctors use. I don't know how they factor body fat but I've never had one of my kids tested for body fat when they chart that stuff.

just as importantly, how died because of covid vs. died with covid.

With hospitals having financial reasons to check the covid box, i don't believe many published numbers.

Having said all of that, these kids are better off in the most controlled environment possible. and that is with their teams.

i hate politics in sports......

He is from Corona California. That is not Corona Del Mar [which sets at the ocean]. Corona sits in the middle of a valley to the east that gets most all the smog from LA. Its hot there in the summer, plus one can't breath.

Hopefully he finds the humidity in Georgia this season is more conducive to performing best as an athlete than similar heat plus smog.

Recognizing how much more enthusiasm there is for football in the South will be half the battle. Hopefully Maason can help do the rest.
