One of the problems with falling back on the transfer portal is you can get outbid there also (see last year and before).
Sure there are problems with recruiting the high school ranks, but some of the same problems come with the portal, and some different ones as well.
Need reforms on both fronts (NIL and portal), because it’s really a combination of the two that have been the biggest problem IMO

Just imagine what it’s like for us older guys who have been following LSU recruiting since (in my case) Archer. I even went to the recruiting bashes during DiNardo’s tenure.
Subscribed to the national and some state recruiting magazines before the internet. They had rating systems and were the precursors to On3, Rivals, ESPN, 247, etc.

This kid was already “committed” to Texas before and then “committed” to LSU to get Texas to throw in a new Lambo and more $$$. Then once his agent and family were satisfied with the payout he quickly went back to UT as expected.

I think Kelly does get it, but he’s having a hard time finding boosters and alumni who are willing to ante up the NIL game. The fact of the matter is that we simply don’t have as wealthy of an alumni base as some of these other schools.
With that being said, frick Texas and their trash arse program. I hope they never win a national championship ever again.

Do you not get that LSU has limited funds compared to Texas and aTm who have oil money and Lambo dealers willing to throw Un-Godly amounts of money at these families so LSU has to be more selective who they pay. Kelly can only work with the money he has. Texas and aTm have oil tycoons, Michigan has that a$$hat Portnuts and the billion dollar princess, Oregon has Nike money. We have Gordon and that’s about it.

Also, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that the players other teams are coming for are 5 stars. It's just pure coincidence.
