The kid is very talented and will make a great player and all but the thought of Nicky eating our table scraps isn't a bad thing.

I made a comment on another post about a few guys we were a little aggressive on. Watkins is why I think we were a little too aggressive on what I consider inferior talent. I like Chase better, but love Watkins!

I guess the question is are we holding a spot for Chase, which I couldn't argue with.
Or, would the better strategy be tell both Watkins and Chase that there's one spot for one of them and first-come, first-serve. I'd be ok with that. In fact I think we should. We need one of them and no one's crystal ball into the future is THAT good. What we can't risk is getting neither UNLESS there's some real confidence in the 2019 WR class. But even then we might run into a numbers+skill problem 2 or 3 years from now (quality depth comment).
I do realize that Chase is on Marshall's level. But it seems to me Watkins will be there soon. Maybe just a little bit more growing and physical development, maybe better coaching to make him "more polished".

Chase is more of a complete WR at this point and has a higher upside to me. Watkins is more suited for the slot and returning kicks. I would like both, but chase is the take 10/10 times. If Goodrich isn’t signing here, we could take both. It appears that he is though.

I may be alone in this line of thinking, but I think Watkins is a little overrated as a WR. He's miscast in that role, imo.

Watkins is not overrated, this kid is a great playmaker, I've watched the film. He can catch and will elude and run away from people with impressive speed. He could be a 5 star really, but he's a solid 4 star talent, Chase is not above him. Technically as a WR I would say Chase is better, but he's not the playmaker this kid is. I just don't understand Bama coming up on his board now all of a sudden, LSU should definitely take this kid if they have the room.

Bamas been there. Their issue is the same as ours, space. I would guess they've been told by Waddle they are out and now press for Watkins.

I prefer Chase but wish we could get both. But that is the good thing about early signing. You got a group and now we can focus on the four we want. First come first serve

Not 100% positive, but I think Chase and Marshall would be the highest rated WR's in one class LSU has ever signed.

Watkins is on the outside looking in for LSU and right on the boarder for Bama because of numbers. Giles is already on roster with a proven skill set similar to Watkins. Take Chase all day long if he wants in. Watkins has played too many games up till now to take him over Chase, especially with Giles likely starting in the slot the next 2 years
