Yeah, but our issues happened way before Katrina... Dates back right after my yrs at AUG '96... We lost plenty of leadership within the admin.(retirements, deaths, etc.) and ended up hiring fools as replacements... New guidelines were implemented which took a huge chunk out of enrollment... We also lost 3 feeder schools as well: Bell, Phillips, & Gregory... We became the doormats of the Catholic League and only had 2 winning seasons '99 & '00... It actually started Rummel's great run... Also, plenty of the black ath went to our rivals: Jesuit, BM, McD35, etc...

Yeah it pretty much went downhill after 1995-96. That year they beat Shaw twice (once during the regular season and once in the first round of the playoffs). They were no match up with Shaw, Jesuit, and Rummel from that season on. Even De la Salle had a decent season or two during that time frame before dropping out of 5A.

I wonder why I'm having trouble following...oh yeah b/c you are full of shite

Full of shite?

They have had 5 LSU caliber players post katrina...

How many LSU caliber players pre katrina?

LSU didnt recruit Benjarvis. They went after Akeem Jolla who was prob the biggest recruit at Aug during that point in time. and he was huge bust at Miami.

I just don't think you can read. Otherwise you'd address what Ive said. Tell me about some of this great talent pre Katrina. The best college player at a prominent school was probably a punter; Vinnie Burns are VA Tech. Think about that.

Man, I forgot about De La Salle... That bald coach(forget his name) was damn good the short while he was there...

2000 St Aug played WM closer than anyone else in the semifinals. That WM team was named MNC in multiple polls.

Dude Im not even trying to make a point that there was a wealth of talent their pre Katrina, I have strictly been questioning what YOU have said. I can read, its just hard for me to read nonsense, I've always had trouble with it. My mom sent me to Sylvan for it, but that was a waste.

what have i said that is nonsense?

it's all factual

that fact that someone said St Aug leads all High schools in NFL players all but proves my point. They have 2 NFL players and James Hall will retire any time now. He's old as frick.

St aug Had something like 10 or 11 guys sign d1 schollies last year right?

I think they are in the top 10% in the state as far as d1 talent signed.

Maybe I am being paranoid about Crutchfield being at Aug. I don't think it's a great situation for LSU, but I won't be that worried about it unless I hear stories about multiple guys transferring there or other such shenanigans.

in the 2011 class. i dont think it was that many but it was 7 or 8

none were top level players except the guys LSU got. They are goin to schools like Tulane, SMU, Nicholls, Bethune-Cookman

They always have some pretty decent athletes. It's sad that they never really amount to much in college.

I dont remember exact numbers but I thought the fuss last year internally was how did they not go further in the playoffs with so many kids going to the next level.

It's not the most loaded school in the state year in and out, but they field athletes.

We are NOWHERE near the caliber we were in my prime... Not even with Fournette... Shite, we had 3 or 4 backs when I was there on his level...

Oh I understand that. But relative to other state schools, I bet they still are top 10% talent wise.
