That would shock me. I wish it were true but why not run 3-4? Holmes and crutch have got to be thinking about trying to jump to college coaching one day. Imagine how far a Saban referral could get them in a few years.

I don't doubt that a bit. I'm not trying to character assassinate your folks. I just really disagree with them.

i am sure this has been posted by now but i can't read thru all yalls crap.. St. Aug=Private School, can get anyone that will attend. Saban now has a foothold in NOLA. Why don't you get that? Regardless of Fournette, he can now rule over NOLA when he decides who needs to attend St. Aug. You always see only one angle but there is more to this than meets the eye. How long was Saban's extension? He is setting up NOLA to be his recruiting grounds for the future and what better than a Private School that can get anyone in the area there and his personal choice as a coach pushing those guys to him? Cmon you are better than this close minded mentality.
This post takes the cake.
Saban already has JT Curtis pimping Jefferson for him, now he owns St. Aug and New Orleans.....Dum Dum Dum Dum.....DUUUUUUMMMM

I dont know if we have the horses to run a 3-4 yet IMO. But I guess when the spring game comes around we shall know

If you think JT Curtis is anywhere near the same league as Cruthfield and Holmes, you are ignorant. I'm not sure where so many people got the idea that Curtis pushes kids to or away from any particular school, but it's not true.
I've never met Curtis, but I can guarantee you he is much more highly respected in coaching circles, and others, than either of the two clowns at Aug now.

I think that he is making fun of another poster. Idk

delarge05, Ponamsky had that DeCarlos Holmes info in a post he put up on his site last night, if my source is accurate.
Ponamsky is a St. Aug guy, if I'm not mistaken, and he lowered the boom as I understand it.
I've also gathered that as of today, St. Augustine is currently accepting applications for high-ranking administration positions. Whether this is due to recent changes brought on as a result with recent happenings and goings on, I don't have confirmation.

as opposed to what?
every post in this thread is arguments over the internets
because I dont think Saban is starting a recruiting ring at St Aug, that I am singled out for arguing on the internet?
As for DeCarlos Holmes, he coached under Crutchfield at Port Sulphur. That is the connection here. Not Nick Saban pulling strings 400 miles away. And Ive never heard of a defensive coordinator making a kid go to school at a certain college. You people are so paranoid its not funny. If he has a qualified resume to coach at a place like St Aug, they aren't going to turn him down. This guy has been a coach for years at the high school level.

quote:No one has said anybody is "making" anyone go anywhere. That's ridiculous. But high school coaches (including assistants) can definitely make the recruitment harder for some schools and easier for others (which Holmes has already done in the past). If you won't acknowledge that, you're being disingenuous.

It doesn't necessarily mean LSU will stop getting kids from St. Aug, and it doesn't necessarily mean Bama will start getting them. It also doesn't necessarily mean Saban had anything to do with any coaches being hired there. Just means it might be more difficult for us to recruit there in the future is all.

That doesnt help you guys much. So they were coaching together, split up, and both have pushed kids to Bama in the last few separate years. Now they reunite, doesn't it seem logical that they would have more success working together again? If both were able to push kids to Bama alone, seems like they have double the influence now. At least as much as coaches can influence.

well i was talking to brad sylve the other day, and from what he told me, crutch (not just his coach, but his stepdad) would have been very 'disappointed' if he hadn't chose bama..
take that as you want to, i'm not saying saban is lining crutchfield's pockets, or that crutch is the type of person to take such offers, but neither scenario would shock me..

He's an assistant, he has little say in the recruiting process. He was an assistant at Bastrop when LSU was getting their players. I guess he just stopped pushing kids to Bama at that point.
Do I think some head coaches influence kids? sure. I dont think we have enough evidence that Crutchfield does so. He hasn't had many LSU or Alabama kids under his wing as a coach.

Holmes was the reason for Bastrop losing the 1st title... Pushing the Port Sulphur 5(Randall Mackey, etc) to Bastrop after Katrina..
According to most on here..Sylve didn't have a committable offer
