I’d try Stamps at safety but I think they have room for someone like Matthews with game experience & upside

Is he actually good or do we just like him because he is from Baton Rouge?

This same board hated that Matthew wasn’t interested in LSU. We, the fans, wanted him. Surprised that he didn’t see the field much at Tenn.

Soooooo, LA kid went to Tennessee and got very limited playing time and now he’s in the portal and LSU should go after him?? Please explain why.

And for God's sake, NO MORE Ohio State transfer DBs. LSU has taken 3 of those in the last 3 years and how many have panned out AT ALL? The answer is a hard 0!

Does he want to come work? Or just be handed a starting spot?

Don’t see why not but I’m satisfied with Stamps on one side with Woodland

Are you sure? I didn’t see anything special out of either this year. We need to get back to elite level with our DBs, and folks like you are settling.

Before Florida game I would have been totally in on this

Then the game-sealing Gator TD run happened, where Stamps tried to fill the hole unblocked from a safety position, racing downhill, and just completely whiffed on a potential tackle at the LOS, allowing for a 55 yard TD run

I want Stamps out of the lineup

Stamps tackles pretty good for a corner but he does whiff sometimes

I've always thought he could be a safety. I doubt he would make the move from corner. He would probably transfer.

It's a waist of time. Go grab some proven talent. The staff will have to do some backdoor recruiting.

Waste of time. I do agree. I'm even fine with grabbing starters from lower level schools if they can play.

Depth at corner is a good thing if he could be that.

In order to function on blitzes tackling is a must in the open field for sure.

I hate that we prioritize Louisiana kids who gave LSU the cold shoulder.

This has to be a a terrible time to be a coach. Just finished high school recruiting for the most part but now you have to either revisit your scouting reports on portal kids or evaluate their tape if you don't have a report. All the while recruiting your own roster and bowl prep.

Better deepen that scout team. There should be a couple dudes who do nothing but watch film and follow the portal. Essentially our own on3 staff.

LSU isn’t gonna pursue and Nor should they. Staff isn’t taking flyers on Louisiana kids unless they have productivity. Jackson and Pickett will be your starting corners week 1 against Clemson.

This is one where you trust Raymond. He knows what he’s doing. If he thinks Matthews is a good fit here and will develop under him, so be it. If not, go get someone more experienced.

Quality human, at least He was an honor student at WHS, and just a good all around kid. One of my wife's all time favorites.
