It's surprising how much these coaches can sway a player.

I know one of Kevin Minter's coaches hates UGA and told Minter when it came down to the two, to go to LSU. Obviously, that's not the only reason he went, but if he asked the coach, his opinion obviously meant something.

I'd love to have Davis. A quick LB is what we need in the SEC nowadays to compete with the spread and it looks like he has enough strength to stop the run and take on a block as well.

This coach THINKS he is protecting people in the future, but he is basically being an egotistacal prick with a selfish agenda.

He can protect any future player simply by telling them the story of this kid. To ban them should not be his right. The Principal must not have a sack.

Maybe the Pricipal has principles. In this day and age of low down crooked coaches its nice to see someone taking a stand. If the players really want to go to SC I'm sure no one can stop them, but Spurrier didnt help himself or the University here. Sometimes people have to make a stand for whats right, I think this coach just did that.

So what if my son is a junior this year and has been a life long USCe fan and dreams of playing for this school. What gives this coach the right to say they can't recruit players at his school?

USC can still recruit kids from that school. They just can't do it on campus.

So if this kid drops USC and follows the coach to LSU, it's OK. shite happens. Evidently the evaluation of the kid changed. He will be playing and getting a free education somewhere.

Somebody will jump on him. They'll miss on a commit and use him to plug the hole. It really does suck that the cocks did this so late in the game though.

Yea, those damn cocks. Always leaving holes in stuff

Reading the original post again I don't think I've ever read a statement containing jump on him, plug the hole, suck, and cocks without any dirty meaning.

So since Cooper liked him for USC then does that mean he might offer him for LSU if the space is available? Will he be good enough to fit into what we are doing on defense and what we already have at the safety position?

I have 1 question before I feel sorry for Davis. Is it possible Davis could have signed a Letter of Intent early? I know Shepherd sent his in early for different reasons (to enroll at LSU). If it is possible for Davis to sign the LOI early and give his committment then I don't feel too sorry for him. These players (not all but many) play the same games as the school. This is the way the game works. It is back and forth. You are playing the game to see what schools will offer and schools offer too many kids for the same reason. If a kid wants the school badly enough then sign the LOI early. My question is once the LOI is signed is the school obligated to honor the scholly for 1 year?

There is no early signing period for football.

It's not completely unprecedented here either. When Saban came to LSU he pulled an offer from some local kid (can't remember the name) who had committed to DiNardo and staff.

This was pretty classless. Another article says they didn't even talk to the kid. Told his coach, who in turn had to tell the kid. Spurrier is a HUGE POS.

Is this the kid that Ron Cooper was supposed to have offered without Spurrier's knowledge? If so that may have had some impact but it still doesn't make it right. Spurrier = POS

This was no doubt a huge mistake by SC and spurrier that will come back to bite them in the arse. But am I the only one that finds it bothersome that our new DB coach is enamored and offered a scholarship to a 5'7" 205 lbs LB/S.

Would it bothersome to you to have Bob Sanders on your favorite pro team? Was Sam Mills a bothersome player for Saints fans? Don't get caught up in size...rather look at his resume and his speed

If you've seen him play he's the ultimate sleeper (only because of his height). He's 5'8 and played MLB and FB (started) for the 2 years at a AAAA GA powerhouse. As a Sophomore at another school (AAA St. Pius) he ran for a 1000 and had 200 tackles...He's ran for at least 1000 in his junior and and senior seasons (1300 I think this year) while adding on 120+ tackles each year.
