Yup. We got 2 of the 3 best though. The only one we really could've used was Cam Robinson. Noil and Willis were busts, but Fournette and Adams are legends at LSU now.

Cam Robinson was not part of the 5 for 5 fiasco that occurred at the high school all-star game; Robinson was already committed to Bama for several months before the all-star game. The five choosing at the all-star game were:

Jamal Adams
Leonard Fournette
Speedy Noil
Gerald Willis
Tony Brown

with LSU getting Adams and Fournette, Noil going aTm, Willis to UF and Brown to Bama.

It works that way more often than not, but it hurts more when Louisianimal goes oos and excels. I hate to wish ill on any kid but when they crash & burn I ain’t mad. Now that money is involved it cuts a little deeper. Remember that OL from Va Tristin?? or something like that. I thought that flip at the end was costly, he flopped and we ended up getting several OL after that actually changed our OL mentality.

I remember thinking Koht was going to be a beast. We are all just guessing. Lots of variables in play that affect outcomes.

Same. He entered the portal this year and is now predicted to Vanderbilt. Scouting is hard.

I always thought the thing about 5 for5, all of them were from LA. That's why we all
felt so confidant. Well, until we
didn't.

One thing i know for certain, Jamal Adams was not part of 5 for 5. He was our 11th hour replacement for Hootie Jones, who was part of 5 for 5.

That one definitely worked out for us.

Isn’t Wiggins getting regular PT for the Ravens?

There is one thing certain, you are incorrect. The all-star game was played in early January and Hootie had already committed to Bama, then decommitted, then recommitted. Hootie was not a part of the 5 for 5, he was not announcing at the all-star game.

Bleecher Report Article on 5 for 5

excerpt:
“Les Miles was so shocked and surprised I was coming,” Jamal Adams said. Adams made his commitment public on Thursday during the second quarter of the Under Armour All-American Game at Tropicana Field, a 40,000-seat enclosed stadium near St. Petersburg’s downtown. Adams, a five-star safety from Carrollton High in Texas, was one of seven players who committed on national television on a brightly lit stage just off the field. Five had LSU has a finalists. The Tigers got two: Adams and St. Augustine running back Leonard Fournette, the nation’s top-ranked player. LSU lost highly rated in-state talents in defensive tackle Gerald Willis and receiver Devante “Speedy” Noil, both of Edna Karr, and Texas cornerback Tony Brown. Willis chose Florida and Noil picked Texas A&M. Brown says he’s heading to Bama."

Advocate article on 5 for 5

Additional excerpt:

"Fournette saved a rough day for LSU head coach Les Miles. The high school all-star game was tabbed as "5 for 5" by LSU fans, as five 5-star recruits made their college commitment with the Tigers as finalists. Wide receiver Speedy Noil, defensive lineman Gerald Willis and cornerback Tony Brown spurned LSU for Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M, respectively. Fournette was joined by safety Jamal Adams in choosing LSU. Adams strengthens a defensive back class that was already one of the best the Tigers have ever had."

Nice link to an article that says the number 5 a bunch. Just because 5 recruits had them as finalist doesn't mean that's where 5 for 5 originated.

If Jamal adams was in on 5 recruits that LSU was very sure they could land, why was everyone so shocked that he committed?

Please read the parts in bold below from the article:

"Fournette saved a rough day for LSU head coach Les Miles. The high school all-star game was tabbed as "5 for 5" by LSU fans, as five 5-star recruits made their college commitment with the Tigers as finalists.

Wide receiver Speedy Noil, defensive lineman Gerald Willis and cornerback Tony Brown spurned LSU for Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M, respectively.

Fournette was joined by safety Jamal Adams in choosing LSU. Adams strengthens a defensive back class that was already one of the best the Tigers have ever had.

If Fournette were to not choose LSU, social media in Baton Rouge would have taken it harder than a loss to Alabama. But his commitment was massive considering the Tigers went 2-of-5 on their 5-star targets."

If you had actually read the Advocate article, you would not have asked this questions as it was clearly delineated in same in the first two paragraphs.

This is who was part of 5 for 5
quote:

The actual "5 for 5" was Fournette, Jamal Adams, Gerald Willis, Speedy Noil, and Tony Brown. All guys committing during the under armor game. LSU was supposedly picking up 5 separate 5 stars during the game.

Cam Robinson was another La 5 star but he had already committed to Alabama. Hootie Jones was a 4 star from north La and he committed to Alabama, decommitted, called Corey Raymond to commit to LSU, but Corey turned him away as Jamal Adams was committing I believe the next day. He eventually also ended up in the Alabama class.

Gerald Willis was supposed to be closer to his mom, so everyone assumed he was committing to LSU despite what his brother did. He committed to Florida instead.

Speedy was always looked at as an LSU lock and spurned LSU for A&M.

Tony Brown's sister ran track for LSU so everyone assumed he was an LSU lock. He committed to Alabama.

Leonard and Jamal Adams, the only two who actually ended up doing anything productive in college or the pros, committed to LSU.

The way I remembered it, the 5 for 5 moniker started well before we got close to signing day.

I'll take the L though. Looks like I'm wrong on this one. Definitely not the first time.

However, it still doesn't make sense that Jamal would've been included, if it was such a shocker that he chose LSU. Despite what Ross's article says.

It did, because it referred to the 5 players announcing at the Army game a month before signing day.
