Jimbo desired to be a BCS head coach and the quickest avenue to reach that destination is the one he took. The supposed head-butting with Miles was secondary to his primary goal. Good for him. He helped LSU win a national title and two SEC titles and should be remembered fondly for that.

Just happened to be in the right place at the right time....with a new Miami staff and Fla 's new staff.......just like Ole Miss with Diaz leaving.....The had committed to State. Ole Miss did nothing to get them. The players did it on their own because the coach left. Same with Jimbo......LUCKY

FWIW, I had to look up lagniappe. Good word choice
Wow! Really? You're an LSU fan and never heard someone use that word? I see you're from Cali so that may explain it but in Louisiana its a very common word.

Les couldn't tell him to simplify things? Or were the Qb's the problem?

Probably a little of both. Billy G was brought in as a buffer, to help coordinate the passing game. But Les saw WR's dropping passes & the QB's struggling. So he made change at OC.

Head coach? Not at all chief. He did not have any control over the the staff until this year. That is why a few coaches left FSU after the 2009 season. Jimbo is a hell of a coach and NOW he has total control, and the results will be seen soon!

Jimbo was very lucky in recruiting this year as also shown by Clemson.....

IE he replaced Bobby last year and had all year to recruit, whereas both Florida and Miami replaced their coach this year and it effected the recruiting by both schools.

In a normal year there is no way a Clemson can come into Florida and steal 3 of the top 10 recruits.

It's worse than that Otown!!! I also graduated from LSU (Class of '80). Was probably hung over the day they used the word in class . . . or maybe it's generational.

BTW, I only live out here . . . I'm from Texas and bleed purple and gold. Take care friend.

I really think that title is just a title.

not trying to be a dick, but seriously? i don't know how you could possibly not have heard of lagniappe as it's been around in louisiana for a very long time.

i know it's just wikipedia, but take it for what it's worth LINK

Gonzo was given the "title" for the pay increase to get him here so it wouldn't look like a lateral.

The word isn't used much (if ever) in most of north LA. I don't think I heard it until I got to LSU.

Sorry! And you're not being a "D" at all. Thanks for the link friend (but I did consult a Funk & Wagnalls hard copy). I gotta say this has been quite educational . . . and on a Jimbo Fisher thread!

Tell ya what . . . I got some very close alum friends in BR, Metairie and Shreveport . . . talk to them all the time. I'll ask them how this could have happened.

Don't I feel like a "Dilbert".

it just seems funny to me b/c i heard it shortly after visiting SELA when i was young.

reminds me of my buddy who spent 4 years in the marine corps in the late 80s-early 90s. he has been in BR for 13-14 years and til this past october, had never heard of the DD/WWII museum in NOLA. they advertise it a lot and especially with that new tom hanks show they recently opened. coupled with i believe drew brees doing things with the museum and him being a saints fan, i was floored when he never heard of it. guess some things inexplicably slip by people. shite happens

I think les is a better coach, but that does not require me to think Fisher is a bad coach, which is the position you and some other tards take.

nobody said he was a bad coach douche....he hasn't proven to me that he is a great coach. time will tell and if he keeps recruiting the way he did this yr that time may soon be upon us.

by the way, until the acc shows me something more that coulda, shoulda and woulda they will remain an afterthought.

lol at fools who dont think that was all Les

Again...... so if les has been calling the plays the whole time then you got to give him credit for the good offensive games we have had. I still doubt that was all les, but hey then it was all les since 05 and he is responsible for the best and worst offense lsu has seen.

Jimbo Fisher has really shown how great he is....as a coach and recruiter. Tell me ...again, how did we let him get away???DUH!

Is it just me or did he not STILL underachieve given the talent he has?

Our excuse was our OC and QB play. What's his?

I still say FSU is just a pretender atm.
