He was Georgia’s best ILB in 2022 when they won the natty, really good player.
Him leaving is a little odd, but he got injured and was out the last month of this season - but they had 2 freshmen play awesome at LB in his absence. Georgia recruits that position at an elite level

Want, this could free up Perkins to rush from the edge more next year.

Not to keep this argument going, but he only had 4 sacks off the edge last year. Half his sacks were from spying the QB and breaking on him when the QB left the pocket. He's not an edge rusher.

He's 220 lbs. Go look at all of the top sack leaders this year, none are under 235. Most are in the 245-255 range. He's too small to effectively rush more consistently. If he doesn't beat the Tackle around the edge, the tackle owns him. He cannot get away from him. He has speed and thats it.

He would be an excellent addition to any team. Team captain and quarterback of the defensive side.

They have another linebacker in the portal.

Nyland green, a corner lsu recruited, is also in the portal.

I've said the same. He has speed. He doesn't really have any technique or form to beat a lineman. It's pure speed to try to best a misstep or a late jump.

Remember when Tyrann Matheiu used to play something of a hybrid linebacker/safety roaming wrecking crew where he'd player closer to the line and could rush the passer or drop into coverage... I feel like if we had a better defense surrounding him to play their parts Perkins could be used as a versatile roamer. Move him where he's needed. Obviously the DB portion doesn't play like Matheiu but from what we've seen, I'm comfortable letting him drift into coverage situationally.

Based on his PFF grade as an LB in coverage, Perkins seems to be well above average at it.

All of this is spot on. People got their expectations a little lofty.

You have to move perkins around when you blitz him. I'm still shocked that house didn't do this but a few times.

He did blitz him off the slot in a game towards the end of the season. He just walked down right before the snap.

Any good DC would've blitzed perkins up the a gap on a delayed blitz multiple times a game. I don't think I saw that all year. Shite wad infuriating.

Just think about how aranda would send Devin white up the a gap. You delay it so perkins can use his speed to catch them off guard.

A very good ILB, an obvious guy to pursue but there’s been a few of those and LSU hasn’t done it so we’ll see

He'd be a take just for that reason. We need someone to take control of the defense on the field.

This is the key statement. The role that Perkins is currently playing isn’t the issue. It’s the lack of creativity in how he is utilized in that role. And that’s a big reason why I hope Kelly moves on from House. His rigidness with this scheme is a problem.

Perkins is this team's Patrick Queen from 2019 team. Aranda put him in to the game to run everything down. Great speed and tackling.
