that 40 time is eek.. but its okay. he must have really impressed Grimes and Miles so GEAUX TIGERS
I have always wondered why 40 time would matter one bit for an offensive lineman.
If you lined up 275 pounds of silly putty at RT, it might test poorly in the 40, but it would at least slow the defender down.

Shows athleticism. Explosion off the ball for run blocking, tracking down lb'ers, etc.
Means nothing for pass blocking unless it's an escorted rollout.
Running backs average 4 yds per carry, yet their 40 times mean a lot. Same for tackles, the quicker they get to position, the better the success of the block. Quick feet.
Ps.....that's why Glenn Davis would have been a multi-year all American if he would have chosen football

This is a terrible analogy, 40 time would indicate top end speed, to dictate their home run hitting ability.

40 time for Olinemen is absolutely the most useless stat there is, and you look like a fool if you try to argue otherwise

Seems like with the prospects we've been recruiting, the staff feels comfortable taking project this year with a lot of upside. They'll have the time they need to develop behind some of the big name recruits. I dig it.

Maybe this can help your thought process.
"For fans, offensive linemen running the 40-yard dash might seem like a waste of time. To scouts, however, the test is an important barometer of initial burst, acceleration and endurance."

Scouts are mainly worried about the first 10 yards to show initial burst.

But then you look at Ali Marpet from Hobart who got drafted last year who got drafted this year in the second round. One of the main reasons was because of his 4.8 40 time
