Watched the most recent recruiting update podcast by the Bengal Tiger.

Billy and Shea had some interesting news about Jakeem Stewart that I don't think has been discussed here yet.

I think it was reported a couple months ago that he was transferring to IMG and some thought that was a huge disadvantage to LSU. Yeah that's not true. He transferred to Karr from St. Aug (sorry if old news but I tried searching for it and nothing came up).

Shea confirmed that it's widely believed that the reasoning for the transfer was because he would not have been able to re-classify at St. Aug, and at Karr he can. Not saying that's official yet, but he's taking the steps to try.

Both Shea and Billy feel really good about LSU's chances with Stewart. And who better to recruit New Orleans guys than the goat, Frank Wilson.

I assumed that instead of reclassifying to '25 that he'd be an EE, but I don't know the specifics of the situations at St. Aug and Karr, bit of anybody does, they might be able to clue us into the situation more.

I had no clue he was at Karr. So great post.

As bad as we need him sooner rather than later, I hope he goes EE in 26 route.

I would be over the frickin' moon if Jakeem comes here.

But honestly, seeing what Bo has done with what he has this year...we'll be fine at DT regardless.

Don’t think he’s transfer schools, sit out from playing football just not graduate in 2025

Guessing, but I expect him on someone’s campus next fall

But think what could he do with an elite talent.

Not sure I get the gist of your statement. It has been my understanding that Stewart is a DE and Peoples would be his position coach. Stewart is not a block eating DT IMHO.

He’s a down lineman, not edge. Think Dom McKinley, Mason smith

It’s funny how doom brained a lot of folks are on here

A thread with a rumor from a few anonymous posters that he’s going to IMG and is locked in with USC gets tons of replies shitting on the kid and a total meltdown

Don’t see any of those guys in the thread where the rumor is debunked and shows LSU very much in it still from reliable sources

I we could actually get Stewart in the 25 class.... Bruh... that would be a natty class for sure. We would have the #1 player in 2 classes in 1.

Why are so many people treating his potential reclass as some sort of huge risk?

For one thing, the dude is an absolute monster - there will be zero concern physically. If you’re concerned that Stewart won’t be physically ready if he jumps up a class, then you should feel the same about basically every DL we’ve signed in recent memory, because the reclassified version of Stewart is still more physically ready than any of our recent DL signees were at this point in their senior years. Think about where dom McKinley was at this point, or Gabe reliford. Both of those guys were massive gets for us, and neither of them were as physically ready in September/October of their senior years as Stewart is now.

And for two: The guy has 5 years to use 4 years of eligibility. Unless you thought Stewart was gonna have to take a redshirt year even *without* reclassifying, this should be zero concern. The only difference is that he’d get an extra year in a college weight and nutrition program, an extra year getting coached up by (hopefully) Bo Davis, and an extra year being challenged by college competition (instead of spending that year with lesser coaching, lesser competition, worse S&C, and probably no structured nutrition plan).

If there was ever a kid people shouldn’t worry about being physically ready a year early, it’s jakheem Stewart. Even among the freak athletes at the top of recruiting rankings he stands out as being on a different level.

Most reports have said that his recruitment would be kind of crazy with a lot of twists and turns but LSU ultimately getting his signature. If he reclassifies, then he's obviously signing with someone in the pretty near future. One would assume that he has to also be pretty far along in that decision making process, if not already made up his mind.

I guess he needs to get that first reclassification part out of the way, but would be curious to know when he would plan on announcing a commitment if/when he does. This whole thing just feels like Bo and Frank figuring out a way to get this much needed talent on campus sooner than later. This would go down as an all time recruiting win in my opinion.

I heard he has to sit out a year at Karr and is reclassifying to 2025. If so, I don't understand the transfer. Maybe he can graduate early from Karr but needed additional classes at Aug? No idea.

Basically he’s done with high school and will be on a college campus next year. So it really doesn’t matter what high school he’s at in New Orleans.

Stewart posted a countdown to early NSD on his Instagram. Seems to corroborate the reclassification rumors.

(Also, if anyone on this board doesn’t already follow recruits.lsu, you need to. Great source of info)
