and there it is. Proximity to ATL and the brands based out of Georgia will become a massive factor with the likeness stuff. See Maryland/Under Armour (Jarrett), Oregon/Nike (Flowe/Sewell/Manning), and now UGA/Delta/Home Depot/Coca-Cola. (Burton)
Some kids purely want the dollars.
You are giving him WAAAAAAY too much credit.

Sounds to me that he saw a better chance at playing early at uga...which is true.

I don’t see the big deal with the article.
Kid sounds like he’s just rationalizing to himself that he made the right decision. I don’t see a lot of negative LSU stuff.
He’s right, they “need” him...LSU does not. We already have two better WRs on the roster and one just as good who is signed...at least. He might not have even played his first two years.
He wants to be close to mama at home. Makes sense.
The coaching stuff, again, just sounds like rationalizing. Ours left and he dodged a bullet. His leaves and it’s a good thing....whatever.
Wish he’d have stayed. He seems good. But we beat good players every week and we beat good players on his team a few weeks ago.
...sucked that he flipped on signing day but shows how much he wanted to be at LSU until being that far away from mama really hit him.

Kirby negative recruiting strikes again
Kudos to him if it works. I mean, what could he say to make LSU look bad recently?
I mean, we've stomped a mudhole in that arse.

Georgia will not even win the east this year.

Alex adams will have more yards than Burton at the end of their college careers

Anyone else think Kirby is already starting to leverage and sell kids on building their brand as a way of getting compensation via the likely upcoming rules change where players can get paid for uses of their likeness? Pretty damn slick if he is..

And I am not trying to be sanctimonious...To me its just not a good look.... It just sounds whiny
Most are not criticizing this kid for choosing to go somewhere else for legitimate reasons. They're criticizing him for unnecessarily running down the other program and being inconsistent in his explanations.
Nobody expects an 18 year old to be completely media savvy. At the same time if he's concerned about building his brand, he should take into account his audience, and unfortunately in the current social media environment, everyone is his audience.
Burrow was masterful at not burning his former bridges. Most of the comments in this thread indicate that people are fine with where he chose to go. The issues are with how he did it and how he talks about it. Hopefully, he'll do a better job discussing it in his next interview.
You on the other hand did not seem to read most of these comments.

Except UGA shares Atlanta with other colleges. There's no distinctive benefit for UGA players in Atlanta like LA. There's plenty of benefit in Athens though, if you decide to live there.

Cuz hes scared.

Really don’t care. Georgia isn’t on LSU’s level that has been proven on the field and Burton won’t be the magic guy to all of a sudden change that. We beat Georgia down like a red headed stepchild the last two times we played. I hope we get to see him go against Stingley before he leaves and get 2 catches for 13 yards.

Any recruiter worth their salt was already doing this for life after college. With change coming, it’s an easier sell. The marketing/branding opportunities in the ATL area are much greater than Baton Rouge/NOLA.
Coca-Cola (Powerade) is headquartered in Atlanta. I would imagine that would be one of the first companies to test the waters along with Gatorade, Nike and the other apparel companies.

Hating on an 18 yr old for picking a college other than the college you wanted him to go to is never a good look.
I don hate on kids normally, but this dude has double standards and bad mouthed LSU for the same thing UGA has going. He can kick rocks

He doesn't like competition just like that Maryland kid. Good riddance

If I could give this more upvotes I would.

Since no one else seems to want to say it as it pertains to the branding, Atlanta is a black mans dream for marketability. Seems obvious that's what he's trying to say without directly saying it. Tons of avenues to get involved in whatever ventures appeal to you. Seems he has bigger dreams than football.
The shitting on LSU part is just a kid trying to rationalize his decision when he really has nothing pertinent to say. Same thing Jarrett did. Upset because coaches leave then UGA loses coaches(even though it was pretty well known Coley wouldn't be back) and it's no big deal. In other words, he bought what UGA was selling. It happens
