it seems that you rarely recruit a pure CB

needs guys in that 5'10" to 6'2" range that have good feet, hips, and ball sense

you can put guys like that in a few different spots

I think that it is a big need, because the CBs in this class are all academic ??s

PP is probably gone, CHawk is gone, Jai is moving to S and will graduate. I think CB is a big need.

I agree that cb is a huge need.At least 2 i think.
Matheau
St. Julien
Bryant
Vinson(if he stays at cb)
Claiborne
Possibly Taylor,Brooks,Simon,Fobbs(eventually)
That's after this year and 3 of those will be SRs in 2011.Not an overly impressive depth chart imo. Some good guys at the top(potentially) but the bottom end is not looking good.

I'd say so.

Taylor moved to safety.
Jai moved to safety and is gone after this year.
Peterson is gone after this year.
-----------------------------------------------
Claiborne should be solid for a few years.
Brooks has been playing musical positions and will be a senior when a spot opens up.
St. Julien has been pretty quiet since arriving and will be a junior.
Calhoun will like Brooks and Williams -- good at a bunch of things but probably not great at any one.
-----------------------------------------------
Vinson could end up at safety and isn't on campus yet.
The status of Mathieu is ??? and isn't on campus yet.

This.

Our potential starting two CBs next year are a SR and JR. Claiborne and Brooks. Then you have Vinson, Mathieu and Calhoun. Gotta get a stud in this class. I'd like to get Washington from Tenn. I don't even think Vinson will stay at CB for LSU, probably a FS.

Claiborne was a big pickup as a sleeper prospect and has been a nice surprise to come in and be the (assumed)starter for this year opposite the future All-Pro(imo) PP

IMO no, but I do believe Miles may take 2 in this class, 1 pure CB prospect and maybe 1 Ath with good hips and good speed. There will be no senior CB's on the roster this upcoming season but Peterson will be skipping his senior year to go pro.

Juniors

Brooks
Bryant
Peterson(leaving early)

Sophomores

Claiborne
St Julien
Jhyryn Taylor(may be leaving team?)

RSFrosh

Calhoun

True Frosh

Mathieu
Vinson
Simon(I think Cooper and Chavis will try him here 1st)

I also think Vinson and Simon will be S/CB hybrids like Brandon Taylor and Jai Eugene, I think they will be asked to contribute at both positions.

Billy Gonzales will try him at WR first. On the LSU.net website the recruits coming in August are are listed at the bottom of the spring roster. He's listed as a WR.

This is why I said much earlier that he is the NUMBER ONE out of state prospect that we have on our boards.

I agree - we probably need a guy that can come in and play right away (not necessarily start in 2011, but play alot). The development of the guys from the 2010 (Vinson, Mathieu and Gibson-who I predict will play safety) class will determine whether CB is merely a position of need or an urgent situation in 2011.
