a smaller school like WO

It's not that big of a difference in size. 4A at WO, 5A at WM.

There is a big difference in programs though. I'd think he would get better coaching, weight training, etc at WM.

West Ouachita has great facilites and a tremendous coaching staff just not enough athletes. They run the fullback dive on almost every play so he would certainly get the carries. They are always around 5 or 6 wins and make the playoffs. Good school.

However nothing like a friday night in rebel stadium if the natives are into it.

I have been lucky enough to see alot of both schools during the past few seasons.

Both good in their own ways.

Just realized Fox posted this . . . He would know, they announce all the West Ouachita games.

Bastrop(most likely about to fall off with New Orleans kids graduating

bastrop had no new orleans players this year and still were 1 point from returning the the state finals. stupid comment.

bastrop just graduated both starting dbs and both safeties. they are one of the top 5 teams in the state year in and year out. they have college recruiters in there constantly and really nice facilities.

You dont have to work your way up the depth chart. If you can play, the coaches will find you a spot on the field. If he wants to get a starting job easy and not have to compete everyday at practice then he should go to WO. But if he likes to compete and work hard at practice everyday then he should go to WM. We have probally the best strength coach in the state second to moffit. Alot of D1 coaches come to our practices all year long so he would get alot of exposure.

I love the way people think that all of Bastrop's success is due to Katrina players.
frick.... Mackey was the only notable player and he was gone last year.
Bastrop as pre-season number 1, before the few Katrina players arrived.
I also believe Mackey was the only one there after year one. RR, Josh Downs, K. Aubrey.....all born and raised Bastrop area players....Get over it people.

Not really they had the Runningback and the Wideout and a Linebacker also, But the team of Bastrop has always been a great defense team for nice little minute though they went like 3 to 4 years and lose like 1 game a regular season. real talk.

How about St. Fredericks, all they run is the veer. Their fullback last year had over 1500 yards rushing. He left this year so they don't have a fullback and he will start the day he gets there.

If he is a really good athlete he will be on defense. Arledge always gets the best players for D. Also we lost alot of our LB core this past season so if he wants to play he has a great opportunity.

WM also has the best coaching, facilities, exposure of any school in NELA bar none.

If your coworkers son is serious about becomeing the best he can be he would want to go to WM. If he can play he will be on the field ,and like otheres have posted there is nothing like Friday nights at Rebel Stadium.

TigerDeacon, If I felt the need to find "proof" in support of my opinion that West Monroe is a celebration of intolerance and ignorance encamped on the west bank of the Ouachita, I might cite your responsive post.
It usually has a fine HS football team.
Beyond that, it's an awful place.
In my "idiotic" opinion, of course.

True and good post.

BUT...Bastrop still hasn't won a title without Mackey and until they do, all you will hear is Katrina. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

WM without a doubt. At St. Freds you hardly get any exposure. Trust me. I know this. Coaches at larger schools have stronger ties to College coaches and know how to promote better IMO.

Also, how many times did Bastrop give the ball to the fullback? They are a spread team.

He would play more at WO and he wouldn't be investigated. If he comes to WM, WM will call for an investigation by the LHSAA to make sure everything is legal. If he clears, then he can be on the team and won't have to beat anyone out due to seniority. The best players play, PERIOD. That's why Shows has been successful, no more 'Daddy Ball'. Also, pretty much every major college will be at WM practices, games, and just hanging around due to Jordan Allen. Plus, they just are always around due to the amount of top level players WM produces. The thing is Shows said recently that after this year he's gone. He only needs 8 more wins to reach 300 and then he's retiring. WO could offer more time and exposure isn't that big of a deal anymore with Rivals, Scout, etc.

As far as WM being racist, no more than any other school in the South. The school is very clickish, but it's not racial. The people that don't know shite about the school assume it's racist due to the mascot being the Rebels.

Go to Oak Grove.

He'll start if he's good. He'll get the best coaching anywhere in the state. He'll have a very good chance to compete for a state championship. And, oh yeah, West Carroll Parish schools consistently rank in the upper echelon of academic perfomance in the state.

What else did you expect me to say?

Nitwit. We have some of the best scores in the state academically. Your logic is that of a fricking five year old.
