Listen to "experts" on the radio, obsess over the number of stars a kid had. Yesterday I didn't know it was signing day until I saw the posts about it here. I don't pay attention anymore until they show up in August, and really not until they step on the field in September.

It’s worthless to keep up with now. Too many diva kids and in reality 75% of every class never does anything

You might get 5-7 guys tops out of a class that’ll contribute

Michigan has had 2 awesome seasons in a row, where have they ranked in recruiting the last 5 years?

That's one approach. Nothing wrong with it. Interests change as people age.

I don't think there's any harm in poring over recruiting stories, listening to "experts" on the radio, and learning the number of stars a kid has.

its so much more healthy to live this way. I dont care anymore what these kids do. I just want a decent class.

But seriously early sign day and recruiting aren’t as fun as they once were. I think ESD kinda killed most of the drama I loved about recruiting

Same here OP. I think my age is a factor, but also with the transfer portal I just don't see why I should get too wrapped up in it. Any major recruit you get can leave. Any major recruit you missed out on might decide to transfer to you.

I'll casually look and see how our recruiting is going and who we get on signing day but I'm not investing any time in researching HS players that we seem to be targeting or might commit to us in the offseason and leading up to signing day. Just look at the depth chart when we get to August and see what people's opinions are on the new faces.

It’s just as important but some things have certainly changed.

I check out the recruiting board once in a while and occasionally see recruiting posts on Twitter and /r/cfb.

I don't see the appeal in following it any closer than that.

I think the peak recruiting era was around 2001-2008 or so

Amen. The last player commitment I watched was Landon Collins. After that I refused to let an 18 yr old stress me out over their decision…

Far less intrigue now that it's all money based.

Michigan's is misleading. Way too many players are staying much longer than they would anywhere else, and they play high school teams the entire year until they play Penn St and Ohio St.

I remember when Forrest Davis and Jeff Whittaker annual recruiting magazines had replaced Hustler and Penthouse in my life. Watching “countdown to signing day” every Saturday morning. Never missing an Army All Star or Under Armor game. Being familiar with player bios 2 years ahead of their signing. Getting emotionally involved with their decisions.
Now, I check in occasionally. Read some rankings. Get info from posters in here, and see where the chips fall.
Hell, I can’t even finish a whole 2 minute highlight video now before I get bored.
