I think we’re good at every position on offense and we’re good at linebacker

For the next couple of years at least.

However, I think DT, DE, CB, and safety still leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully we can get some transfers in to help those positions after the the spring.

Between the ‘23 and’24 class, I feel good about our Safeties. We have Kylen Jackson, Yaites, Rogers, and McBride.

DE is also good with Womack, Howard, Carpenter, Reliford, Jackson, and maybe Breaux.

DT and Corner are the issues IMO. Outside of Toviano, we’re relying on a lot of 3 star players panning out and contributing at these positions. We’ve signed very few DTs.

I like who LSU brought in at CB.

Woodland has potential to be a star. Fluid, great closing speed, hard hitter. Not concerned at all about the "too skinny" aspect.

Ju'juan Johnson is one of best athletes in the country and can be an amazing DB with decent coaching. (More of a concern than the incoming talent.)

Reliford and CJ Jackson are a good haul at DE.

Agree on DT. Even with posters saying "McKinley is overrated". Need to do everything to sign him.

If we sign McKinldy, you can say the class is complete.

Now to fill a few holes like CB and MLB with transfers.

DB is loaded. I don't know who is considered a true safety, but

Allen
Toviano
Jackson
Yaites
McBryde
Rogers

Should all be here unless they transfer AFTER 2024. That's not counting next year having Gilbert, Burns, possibly Sage goes back to safety, and Langlois. Next year we will have NINE players that can play safety. If we get Bussey, you're talking 10 safeties for the 2024 season alone.

CB is loaded depth wise past 2024

Stamps
Hughes
Ju'an Johnson
Woodland
Causey
Foster

Next year for the 2024 season alone you can also add JK Johnson, Zy Alexander, possibly Denver Harris. At least 8 and could be 9 or 10 on roster after the transfer portal.

DE and Edge positions are stacked too. Pulling Reliford, Breaux, and CJ Jackson this year loaded us up there.

Toviano is also versatile and you may see him back at corner

Don’t just look at stars. Look at how those guys played and against the competition. Several national scouts think PJ Woodland is good enough to start year one.

Most of these 3 stars won't be needed until after next season anyway. We'll bring in at least one definite starter or rotational level player at CB and we still have transfers from last season returning. We had some terrible coaching that make many of you forget they LSU has developed a ton of 3 star DBs.

Safety and DE are stocked with young talent and several of those players for their feet wet this season. We also have a few experienced vets in those spots.

CB could use an elite anchor with experience, even if they only have a year or two left. This is especially true if Harris is a lost cause and 100% gone. Also, while I like what we saw from Alexander in mid-season up to his injury, he may not be back until mid-season because of when he got hurt.

That said, I think there’s reason to hope CB is set to improve in the future with this class. It sucked to lose Evans, but we have a couple who could be very good in a year.

We definitely need to bring in quality young talent at DT. We need McKinley and maybe another option will come via the portal.

We need for 2024
Cornerback 1
Starting Safety
Wide Receiver 1
Pure Nickel CB

Anything after that would be a luxury rn imo. Hopefully we can grab those in the portal. McKinley and Bussey would be huge too

And DC leaves a hell of a lot to be desired.

I’m no expert on evaluating high school players, but this looks like a pretty good crew. If they develop and work hard, they can compete with anyone. I like it.

We need a MLB faster than a 4.9 forty.
