I think NIL will eventually hurt not only LSU, but also Bama

Schools like Bama and LSU don't have near the alumni dollars as UT, Michigan, TAMU, Florida, UGA, Ohio St, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame... If this does become a situation where biggest alumni dollars gets best recruits by these alumni setting up scenarios where they can pay based on NIL, then I think schools with most money will get best players. All depends on if these richer schools alumni care about football to pay.

Bama will be fine now out of momentum of being elite, but as time goes on and money becomes a more prominent thing, I think it'll change when they can't pay as much as TAMU, etc.

Alumni dollars is one thing.

Alumni who care enough about football that they are willing to give endorsements that mostly lose money for their business is another thing entirely.

Alabama and LSU probably have way more of those donors than USC or UCLA.

It will all be about media markets soon. USC will rule again.

Bama fans will do whatever it takes. Triple mortgage their double wide, sell their kidneys, etc

Schools with powerful alumni bases like Michigan and Notre Dame may be natinal powers again. A school like Rutgers could greatly benefit as well. A lot of unknowns. Hopefully they do find some way to regulate it. Even the NFL has a salary cap. The SCOTUS just threw collegiate athletics into the deep end.

We all knew the under the table deals have been ongoing for decades (generations even?). But why does it seem to me now that NIL legitimizes some of these payments that it feels even more like the Wild Wild West? Maybe since no really defined rules and boundaries?

Who cares what you think? You're engaging in pure speculation because no one at this point knows what is going to happen. Stop jumping the gun with panic threads. Not to mention that none of us can do anything about it, in any event.

Go cry over spilled milk somewhere else.

My fear is that in addition to the "legal" money, there will be tons of illegal payments ( under the table)...just like the barber shop in Amite!!!

When the large corporations decide to get involved, not just local merchants, that is when the pendulum will swing big timel
Nike for Oregon....they could buy the entire team.
Walmart and Jones could make Arkansas the next Alabama if so desired.
How about Ford and GM going in to make Michigan #1.
There are many examples, and now it is only what corporations want to allocate huge funds to support their favorite football program.
College sports may soon no longer be the game we have loved for so long.

Just think, HARVARD could become a national powerhouse with all their alum now free to buy players. That would be the ultimate pendulum swing.

Oregon with Nike is a sure thing. Wonder how much of a fan Bill Gates is of Washington U. if he even is a football fan. Of course west coast and east coast teams will thrive in this new environment. Schools like Texas, Texas AM, NOtre Dame also will really power up. Bama will hold tight for a little while just from having a most fanatical fan base who will spend any amount of their money to help Bama football, but can't see them keeping up for long. LSU will last for a little while also, just depends on how quickly this takes to fully get into gear.

bama has a QB who has not played a down & yet he has confirmed NIL monies in the amount of $800,00 and counting. That's an extreme, for now perhaps, but don't kid yourself, LSU & every Power 5 playoff caliber team has big money.

true, they all have big money, but what is important is whose alumni and fan base has the most money and is willing to spend it on the football team. It will take a little time but who college football powerhouses are will get flipped on its head. Going to get weird.

They would have to play someone and the polls would have to rank them…

But remember how guys get such deals… they have to win games and people have to see them on tv.

Agreed USC,and UCLA grads will be more worried about surfing. Any southern business owner with $10,000 extra to spend will be sponsoring an athlete.

Bama has more money than LSU though and more boosters willing to pony up. I get your premise but LSU will be hurt more because we don't have money compared to top schools
