shite or get off of the pot. We wont wait like previous years just to have you spurn us at the last minute for the gumps.

I love it.

I agree with this completely. with the way O has taken recruiting to a national level, LSU doesn't have to wait. Not when we can go out-of-state and get players as good or better at the same position as in-state players. I'd rather have our boys, but if our boys don't want LSU then they ain't our boys no more.

So many different options for a few spots left. In-state guys don’t have the luxury to wait around this year

RB: A. Johnson, K. Milton, Z. Evans, T. Bigsby
OL: S. Van Pran, P. Johnson, M. Dumervil, T. Crawford
DL: J. Roy, J. Guillery, J. Lee, P. Jenkins, V. Broughton, D. Henry
DB: E. Reed, L. Ransom, X. Alford
WR: K. Moore, EJ Williams

Will be a fun ride to December

Its a down year for Louisiana prospects and recruiting in this state as a whole...When the best player in the state is a composite four star player that's not even top 10 at his position then you have to make it clear that as a staff you are looking outside of the state more than usual. Normally we have at least one or two consensus top 20 overall players in the state and a handful of other highly ranked players at many different positions and it's just not the case this year. I have a hunch that this type of recruiting will not be the case moving forward into the next few years when the state has much better overall prospects coming up. It's won't be like the days we've seen the last 15 years where 20 out of 25 guys are Louisiana players and it shouldn't be that, but it will not be this widely stretched across the country either.

It sure will. You can add Xavier Hill OG to that list. He has been offered by LSU and his final 6 include bama, Tenn, LSU and a few other SEC schools. Not sure if LSU has a shot, but he does have some interest in them.

I hope that it is. To compete with the big boys you have to go national. I don't believe that O is opening up these avenues only to close them later. I think that you're wrong.

Then it is a good year to send that message.

"We want you here, but if you're not on board, we'll go grab a guy from Michigan or Cali or Texas."

Posted this in another thread but is seems appropriate for this one.

Ed Orgeron's message on NSD was that #LSU was going to go national to recruit the 2020 class.

13 of the 17 commits are from out-of-state.

11 of the 12 highest-rated commits are from out-of-state.

7 commits are in from California, Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia.

Shea Dixon - 11 of the 12 highest-rated commits are from out-of-state.

Lol. Ed's doing a great job, but also give some credit to these kids. They wanted to leave their home states and play in the SEC and approached Ed. They've taken some initiative in all this which means this could be just the beginning

Coach O understands that LSU is a national power. National powers can recruit coast to coast. O has continued to focus on Houston and South Florida but now he's everywhere. Utah, Cali, Michigan, Maryland, Tennessee, and Georgia.

It's impressive to see O gain a foothold in California, Tennessee, and Georgia.

Just last year LSU signed 15 out of state players compared to just 10 Louisiana players. In fact, LSU has averaged 11.9 out of state signees every year for the past 12 recruiting cycles; 6 out of the last 12 classes had 50% or greater out of state signees. Over the last 12 years, LSU has signed 296 recruits, 143 of those came from out of state, making up 48.3% of the total.

It's not that LSU hasn't signed out-of-state recruits, it's just that these recruits have come from within the SE region, generally (TW, MS, GA, FL...). What the difference is now is that LSU is recruiting more nationally, not just regionally.

Ed O is doing what he said he would do and I love it. Proud of the man for just outworking the doubters. If we can get to another 10-11 win season in 2019, I will be ready to cast my final vote of confidence in his hire.

BY STATE
Louisiana (4)
Texas (4)
California (3)
Maryland (2)

That reminds me of the song Dr. Demento used to play, "The Ballad of Irving"

Irving
The hundred and forty-second fastest gun in the West
A hundred and forty-one could draw faster than he
But Irving was looking for one forty-three
Walked into Sol's Saloon like a man insane
And ordered three fingers of two cents plain
Irving
Big, fat Irving
Big sport Irving
The hundred and forty-second fastest gun in the West
...
Well, finally Irving got three slugs in the belly
It was right outside the Frontier Deli
He was sittin' there twirlin' his gun around
And butterfingers Irving gunned himself down
Irving
Big, fat Irving
Big dum-dum Irving
Big dum-dum dead Irving
The hundred and forty-second fastest gun in the West
Really
