with out having a coach for next year can LSU even do much recruiting right now? We haven't had a commit in a long time. Is it just a dead period for all schools this time of year?

Do you think it is possible to still have a highly ranked class in a year like this?

If we keep the current staff, we'll kill it again on the recruiting trail...

There is always a dead period around this time of the year. Wait until around December and the pieces to the puzzle will start to move. You are crazy if you think that Ed O is just relaxing and not recruiting his butt off right now. Him keeping this class together is his main concern because in his mind this is his job to lose.

Recruiting is fine for now. We have what 18 committed right now? You won't really expect commitments to be coming in right now with the class getting closer to full and being that most guys are focusing on high school football. Once we see some more big time home games against SEC teams coming in we should see more commits.

yes, I saw where he was putting in the work on the recruiting trail. Hope he can hold the class together. Seems it would be hard to add to it without knowing who the next coach will be, especially with out of state recruits.

Seems Miles had a really small class the year he was hired and ranked about 18th I believe.

honestly I feel like it will be a rather easy adjustment.

Just gotta keep O on staff if he is not retained as HC.

maybe we have to take more of the in state recruits this year and take a closer look at some who may have been getting overlooked to some degree.

Most of the players we have want to play at LSU and are expecting a slam dunk hire. We've got a chance to really pick up speed after the season with a splash hire.

Need to get out of the mindset of losing recruits because of coaches. LSU will always have good talent because of high school football in Louisiana. A good coaching hire like Herman would be worth more than any number of recruits. Miles had top 5 class after class and couldn't do anything with it. Everybody says we'll lose recruits because of coaching - ever think about the players we lost because of Miles offensive scheme, he was a great recruiter but LSU will be fine.

Don't stress over recruits, right coaching hire is more important

You don't see a ton of action during the season because at this point most recruits just want to take visits. Think I saw only like 3 4-stars have committed in the last couple weeks.

The good news is we've only lost 1 commit, a JUCO receiver, and still have a Top 5 class in the country. The bad news is I dont think recruiting will really pick up until we know who the staff will be permanently.

It's going to depend on two things:

1) who the new head coach is

2) how many current staff members he keeps

This is the one aspect of the job in which Orgeron is probably best case scenario. He'd likely keep almost the whole staff and the recruiting class wouldn't suffer. An exciting hire like Herman or Jimbo could lose a handful of guys if their position coach or recruiter wasn't kept on board, but thone hires could potentially bring new prospects into play. Basically, unless Orgeron is hired, we're inevitably going to take a hit on this class. That's not me stumping for Orgeron, it's just the reality of changing coaches.

If we can have our coach early say end of Dec. shouldnt be affected hardly at all. These players are still committed so that is good. Im worried about losing Raymond and coach o. If they go then we will probably see some recruits leave.

Yes, this was even mentioned on tonight's IMG game. They referred to how LSU currently has just one decommit since the coaching change, but Tyler Shelvin indicated if Coach O leaves, he would not pick LSU.

But have any other recruits said similar things?
