Seems like EVERYDAY another 4 star TE is committing somewhere.

We can have 25 next year, but won't be able to fill other positions of need.

Seriously, I think we're fine. Les always makes sure to get a couple most years.

At this point, I'm convinced we will always have at least 3 blocking and receiving TE's on the roster. Throw in some walk-on's and we are talking 8 or 9 on the roster at all times. Not to mention fullbacks, linemen or wide receiver that may change positions.

Currently we have listed on the official roster (only one senior):

84 Hanner Shipley TE 6-5 284 Fr. HS Meadowlakes, Texas (Marble Falls HS)
43 Foster Moreau TE 6-5 237 Fr. HS New Orleans, La. (Jesuit HS)
81 Colin Jeter TE 6-6 236 Jr. 1L Longview, Texas (Longview HS/Kilgore College)
46 John David Moore TE 6-3 229 So. 1L Ruston, La. (Ruston HS)
47 Bry'Kiethon Mouton TE 6-1 250 Fr. HS Lafayette, La. (Acadiana HS)
85 Dillon Gordon TE 6-4 295 Sr. 3L Edgard, La. (John Curtis HS)
88 Jacory Washington TE 6-5 221 Fr. RS Westlake, La. (Westlake HS)
89 DeSean Smith TE 6-5 242 Jr. 2L Lake Charles, La. (Barbe HS)
45 Josh Tharp TE/P 6-2 208 So. SQ Erin, Tenn. (Houston County HS)

We also have Jamal Pettigrew committed. I think he was offered by seven other SEC schools- definitely Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, so at least we won't have to play against him and clearly he is worthy enough to be in the SEC.

A lot of these TEs are nothing more than big arse WRs. Most can't block to save their life and have the 4 star rating simply because of their receiving skill. That's not saying I would not want them, quite the opposite. However, the trend of these big athletic "TEs" in the NFL and college, are pushing up the rankings of these high school TEs.

Moore and Mouton will be in the backfield most of the time. Either one could end up starting at FB. Kind of badass that we have a walkon tight end that can punt.

Pretty sure Shipley will move to OT one day. I had no idea he was up to 284 already, geez.

My favorite announcer comment of the year was Rod Gilmore saying that Colin Jeter was LSU's best red zone threat when before that game, I'm pretty sure he hadn't had a ball thrown his way.

How many TE's do you want in this class? TE isn't a big part of our receiving corps and we are hurting for front 7 defensive players, especially linebacker.

Are you seriously complaining we're not getting TEs? We have about 100 on the roster as it is.

Yeah Moore is strictly a TE now from my understanding. I know the family pretty well, never heard any TE talk

Do you mean fullback? He looked pretty good this spring.
