Is the city itself a negative and can it catch up with the top towns in the SEC?

The city is a great college town. It’s in the upper half of SEC towns behind only Nashville and Athens for sure. A lot of the others are debatable and depend on personal taste.

I don’t think anyone is running away from LSU because of Baton Rouge.

Very attracted city for college kids IMO. Tons of restaurants, descent bar scene, fans that treat you like a demigod, and lots of attractive young ladies.

Just curious about what you mean by the city being a negative and what you consider the top towns in the SEC.

City doesn't play much of a role in decision-making of high school athletes.

This has to be the answer. Tuscaloosa is basically a port o potty farm with a Sonic off the interstate. They do a pretty good job getting recruits to sign up there.

Nashville is a great city....hows that working out for Vandy?

Starkville has not hurt State under Mullens

Athens has a pretty cool set up....

Baton Rouge has great food, descent music scene...Tigerland needs to be bull dozed, other than that we are sitting pretty.

These kids spend 99% of their time on campus. Proximity to home, facilities and women are wayyyyyy more important.

I would bet a great town can help and a really terrible place can hurt a little but anything in between doesn't really matter.

Great point!

Let's look at it. The raw data indicates that huge offensive and defensive linemen, who want to have a chance to play early, or provide quality depth on the said critical offensive and defensive lines, like Baton Rouge a lot.

Everyone else thinks it sucks.

Make sense?

What music scene is there in Baton Rouge? I lived there for 24 years and I remember mostly being generic cover bands at the bars most nights. Also, players/recruits LOVE Tigerland. It's where the women congregate every night of the week. LSU is a school that worships it's football team and has a party available 7 nights a week. That's a huge plus to most 18-19 year old guys looking to play football.

i doubt the Georgia players are hitting the 40 watt club for some shows or Creature Comforts for the new IPA. Great college town of course, but it seems like proximity to family and the ladies are bigger factors.
