Oh before the school year my son was begging me to go to Newman because he heard they didn’t have a kicker. I looked at the price, and the distance from our house, and told him to kick rocks. No question he could he help very many teams out there…but he’ll just have to kick for his own. Plenty of records to break here.

School record is 52 yards, state record is 59…hopefully he’ll at least get one of those in his sophomore season.

Last week he won a round of competition with a 58 yarder off the ground, on kind of dumpy grass.

Here's a list of alumni that made it professionally. I challenge you to find ANY other high school that puts that number of kids into their respective professional sport.

Since 2009, more than 98% of IMG Academy student-athletes go on to college, with more than 60 percent earning scholarship opportunities to play at the Division-I level, with 30 percent earning a place at a top-100 school according to the U.S. News & World Report.

Pretty good success rate...

It’s an academy that prioritizes sports over education with these recruits but I am sure with the people that can actually afford that yearly tuition it’s all about the education

If he's that good of a kicker he'll get noticed wherever he plays.

Kicker is the most objective position on the field because you're not going up against anyone. It's strictly a stats position.

A cool $30,000 for HS. Of course, they do offer some financial assistance. A HS classmate of mine (St. Martin's Episcopal) has 3 kids enrolled at Newman ... they still ask him to contribute $$ for school functions and donations. He told them to kick rocks

If you like inexpensive draft beer and good burgers, my favorite is the brie burger, go to Duffy’s on the N end of Anna Maria Island. Bring cash for anything on AMI as some businesses, including Duffy’s, do not accept CCards. AMI is due west of IMG.

Bradenton beach is on AMI. The beaches are pretty nice with clear water most of the time.

It’s a quick drive down to Sarasota. We like the Mote Marine Aquarium.

Thanks, we love to drive around and eat…lodging was expensive, so we’re at the Compass in AMS. Hopefully it’s not too cheesy.

there’s this kid I saw on Twitter, Newman ain’t no guarantee for him to win the job…

Now John Curtis, that’s an easier job to win. We need a kicker too and we’re a free 5A and closer to the MS coast… ooops am I allowed to say that LHSAA

You can also try Star Fish Company in Cortez. It’s just east of AMI. It makes the occasional top 10 FL seafood restaurant list. It’s much better than it looks from the outside.

My son knows him well, says he’s cool..and very good. They share a kicking coach and go to the same camps.

Surely he’s going to the Underclassmen Challenge this weekend in Palm Beach. I hope he has a great camp. Be cool if he ended up in the SEC.

If your son falls in love with IMG and a joint decision is made between mom/dad and son that maybe IMG would be best for his future and most of all has the grades and maturity to leave home to hone his skills I have contacts at IMG. IMG is like St. Jude's Children's Hospital...no sick child(good athlete) is turned away cuz of ability to pay... since he knows Peyton I hope he is imitating/ mirroring Peyton's academic achievements..Peyton can kick it in the classroom too....

I don’t want my son to go to IMG, he’s our only child and we’ll only have him around the house for 3 more years as it is. He can achieve every goal he has from right here.

He’s not the best student, but I think he’s coming around to actually caring. I know he’s got it in him to do well in the classrooms. I think next year he’ll cut out the other sports and focus on just football and school.

Hopefully Peyton can bounce back from the Winter showcase and have a great weekend. Evan says he’s better than 7th, so hopefully he can end up top 4 or 5 at least.

You guys realize IMG is a huge multinational corporation, right? The sports academies are just a small part of what they do. They have their fingers in all sorts of sports and entertainment events and use the academies as a hook to get in with future sports stars in all sports.

https://www.kohlskicking.com/blog/2021-kohls-high-school-season-all-american-team

Peyton got chosen second string all-American for 2023s, based solely on season stats. They lumped the 2025s all into honorable mention, not sure if the order means anything.
