I know of a 5 star DT that tried to go there and was turned away due to grades. When they looked at his transcript they said he’d never be eligible, so they do stress academics also.

I know you will be amazed by the campus and it’s surrounding neighborhood of apartments and subdivisions.
The golf course is as good as they come.

I expect so. We’ve never been to the west coast of Florida. Looking forward to dropping my son off at IMG so my wife and I can go check it all out.
My son is looking forward to the facility, training on turf to get ready.

Damn, did not know that. I was a tennis player growing up
Bolletieri coached/produced 10 Number 1 tennis players. His philosophy merged over to other sports creating what it is today ... a sports academy for amateurs with elite sports talent. Some make it, others crash and burn like Jennifer Capriati who went to the Hopman Tennis Academy
edit: I grew up with Donni Leaycraft, but I was never any good in tennis.

It is a money grab at IMG. Your kid will feel like he is living in the ghetto with the kids they have there. The regulars just are pretty much paying for the stars.

My son is a kicker, and this is a follow-up from a round of nation wide camps. They’re getting all the top kids his age, who are part of this ranking company’s system, in one place to re-rank them head to head. There will be zero thugs in this mix.

Jennifer Caprioti was an amazing tennis player. She just burned out early. She was and is a star. Tell Donny he can suck it.

I agree on Caprioti, and was going to comment. She did a shite ton with what she had, just relied on emotion a bit too much.

Tyler Shelvin had a 1.5 gpa(unbeknown to those of us who where talking with Steve Walsh on his behalf) when he was considering IMG...IMG has a requirement of athletes having min 2.5gpa..IMG is not a place to get your shite together to be academically qualified for college..it's a place to get coach by former NFL players and work out along current NFL players who live in South Fla and are represented by IMG...GASTON you will be blown away by the facilities at IMG...BTW Steve Walsh was correct in predicting that Tyler would not be academically eligible coming out of HS and would lose a year .

How is it even legal to have a ‘sports’ high school? Literally everyone on their home page photo is in a sports uniform.
Why the frick can’t you have a sports based academy if the kids receive quality educations?
I don’t understand why anyone cares. IMG has an outstanding academic reputation and it boast itself as a sports minded school that prepares young people for the next step in a professional sports career. Only way you get to that school and play sports is if you’re D-1 good

Same way everyone recruits…sweet talking family, telling kid how awesome they are, and $$$

I meant legally as in still competing with state competition. My son goes to an all boys school, 7th-12th, and ‘the state’ doubles their enrollment to place them into sports competition. 1/2 the boys don’t play anything. We could recruit…but who wants to go to an all boys school?

To be fair, a school like this is preparing it's students for what they'll see in their "real world" more so than 99% of other public high schools.
I would like to see the success rate of these IMG kids. Surely that info would be available on their website if it was something to brag about.

"Well their premier teams don't play a traditional schedule, and they're also not eligible for any of the Florida post season highschool tournaments."
My son's HS team (in East Tennessee) has played IMG the last 2 years (losing by about 20-25 points each game). That's how these kids get exposure...they have a college class schedule structure that allows them to travel to multiple states (where local recruiters can watch them without having to travel).
This season they play (besides across Florida) in Kansas, Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Arkansas and Georgia.

They recruit football players well?

You have to be aware that these aren’t normal kids that get IMG offense,
No offense but your son and his athletic prowess is not equal to these kids.
IMG doesn’t play regular local teams. They go play mater dei, st Thomas Aquino’s and other monsters.
And allllllll of those bud schools recruit, they’re just in hotbeds like Miami and Los Angeles.
Hell Jamar Chase’s entirely family lived on the West Bank but he went to Rummel? Why do you think he did that? No girls go to Rummel
You thank the recruiters gave a shite that he went to Rummel and not Shaw?

Well my son is a skinny white kid (so obviously he’s not going to be recruited to IMG, or Rummel for that matter), that just so happened to grow up a few blocks away from a private school…it’s certainly not ideal for him.
He’s only a varsity starter because he can kick a football well.
