Should LSU pass on a 5 star instate recruit, I don't want to hear another word about kids leaving the state and loyalty.

you dont turn away a talent like that and give his spot to a far lesser talented player just because of position.

Like I keep saying, fences keep people out as much as in....
I suspect they started talking OLB, maybe while mentioning Hammond as the S.
And yes, great post Pimp!

not to derail the thread, anything shaking with CRob JJ27? (loosely connected to all this with Hootie)
ETA: and I wasn't fishing for anything on Hootie JJ, please don't think that.

Nope. He's going to Bama from everything I've heard.

I gotta disagree with your hyperbole there, mate. Hootie made his bed. He's a big boy. He seems like a sharp kid, a good person. I'm sure he understands that actions have consequences.
I applaud LSU for having a GREAT Plan B in place. There are only so many spots. If a guy ACTIVELY CAMPAIGNS AGAINST HIS OWN SPOT IN THE CLASS, he has to live with the reality of that decision. The last time I saw him he was wearing a Bama hat on tv. There's nothing ambiguous about that.
I hope LSU reaches accommodation with him, but NOT at the expense of guys that are ALL IN with LSU and that we have firm commitments with.
Hootie might have Overplayed his hand. So be it. That's Real World 101. Five Stars don't insulate you from that.

I agree, hootie had a spot in this class until he told our coaches no thanks.
If in fact he has been replaced by adams, then he can thank himself for it.

JJ27 is saying if this is the strategy, make note and don't bitch based on the assumption that In-State Talent doesn't necessarily trump OOS Talent. (which I agree, now that LSU is a national brand).
Lsupimp seems to be saying that there was an equal (or better, maybe the word "equivalent" is more accurate) plan B in place, passing on In-State Talent isn't a sin like some think it is because of the OOS Talent is there to replace.
[Note: all moot if we don't get Adams]

He said the entire time he was torn. Said it was LSU when he went to bed the night before. I don't get this hate for the kid I've seen here. As far as real world consequences, that goes both ways.

Go ahead and blast me now.
I don't think there is anything in your post worst blasting.
But, again, the part that is screaming to be explained is the following;
quote:
He had "his people" contact LSU
Why does he need "his people" to contact LSU? There is more to the story, IMO.

That is just dumb.

quote:taking the emotion out of it, the case may be that Hootie committing to Bama swung Adams to LSU. And to reverse course is a risk LSU isn't willing to risk because they may have word from Adams. It's possible.

In one sense Lsupimp is on target with the "he made his choice, now deal with it" [paraphrasing] line of thought... because that might be the actual facts of the case.
In another sense, you're right JJ27, he made his choice and LSU moved on and did what they needed to do; they made the best "business decision" and emotion or hating on Hootie isn't a factor at all, or shouldn't be.

No it's not. LSU wants to take out of state guys, cool. Props on being a national brand. Don't call these kids traitors when they go elsewhere though.

That's oversimplifying this situation a little bit I'd say.

If they're offered by LSU and leave, they most certainly are traitors.
