Or is it more to do with Saban leaving?
Posted on 12/21/13 at 2:47 pm to LSUNV
serious questio and NOT relating to LSU winning some recruiting points championship.....
with the projected guys on the board coming in, does LSU "need" Hoodie or is he an afforded luxury?
No flame, I just don't see the feeling of attack on LSUs part. we "need" other positions worse, imho

I don't see it as we need other positions. I see it as other positions need might be filled.
What I mean by that, with detail, is that:
CBs/S
- Battle may be where Staff wanted him to be
- Paris may be open to CB or S
- Adoree?
- Tony Brown!!!! If he's informed LSU he's coming, look out.
- Tolliver next year
So with CBs taken care of, Paris may be one of our next safties.
WRs
- we all know the talent in-state. LSU may KNOW which are coming, including some up in the air (Dupre, Noil)
- OBJ or Landry MAY have said they are staying?
If some of this pans out, Voorhies may be our next safety.
(this is the most exciting prospect to me, Voorhies has all the athletic prowress and size PLUS excellent ball skills... Chavis has to be licking his chops and probably actively campaigning to get him on his side of the ball)
Yes, alot of "ifs". Fluid is the word.

I wasnt trying to mislead u on that.
I was asking, if what u know to be the reason, be the same answer that Hootie will give at the end or will he try and give a politically correct answer that may or may not be str8 up like before.
U dont need to answer it. Uve already put a 1250 post section to bed with one sentence.
Im with you I dont believe Jones knowingly, is involved in anything other than trying to figure out what he wants to do himself.
Either way, I will not comment any new info on this subject.

I think it will depend on where he ends up.

I understand you have some knowledge and we would like it. But, if you know, don't you think that means there are plenty of others that know?
I personally will never understand why people come to these boards and say they know, yet are not able to say. why say you know at all?
I don't think you are lying or anything, but can you tell us what it would hurt if you told us?
Thanks for any info you've given.

This year is absolutely mind blowing.

Absolutely.
Things will happen this year that have never happened and will probably never happen again in college football.

I don't blame Hootie for committing to Bama, but I would be pretty pissed if I was on the LSU staff and heard what Hootie's mom apparently said. They should make them sweat until a public apology is given. A message needs to be sent to these kids and their families that they just can't dick these colleges around, disrespect them publicly, and then expect to have the red carpet rolled out when they come crawling back.
Family friend called LSU. Was told they were about to practice, talk later. Apparently later meant much later.
I like Jones, and I want him in this class, but if we need that scholarship for a surprise like Malik Macdowell or Lorenzo Carter, then let Hootie go to Ole Miss! I'm sure they would treat his momma well in Oxford.

That little fact right there raises a bunch of questions.
Family friend? His camp?
Obviously, this isn't a simple case of Hootie changing his mind on Alabama and wanting to jump to LSU.

Here is one plausible scenario after reading various boards and hearing various viewpoints :
Hootie cooled on Alabama for reasons unknown to me but known to some on this board. He had "his people" contact LSU to let them know he had reconsidered and was interested in LSU . LSU had already moved on with Jamal Adams and was not willing to do anything that would alienate Adams.
LSU then told Adams that he was their number one priority, but as the safety position is CRITICAL to the 2014 class, and they needed another one at the position, they would want him to "commit" off the record or they would be forced to continue with a back-up plan. Adams thought about it and told the LSU coaches he's in.
Hootie, not hearing any positive response from LSU, through "his people" throws out the names of Ohio State (implausibly) and Ole Miss to save face, having rebuffed Alabama for some reason.
LSU may or may not take Hootie, based on what their commitment to Adams is. But based on their reported non-contact seems to be encouraging him to move along. Hootie may have very well talked his way out of going to LSU by publically "committing" to Alabama and "forcing" them to switch gears. He may be The Cautionary Tale that coaches point to and say "If you want the offer take it-b/c we are moving on".
Everything will not likely be revealed until Hootie picks his school. Many will blast LSU as if LSU "lost him" not realizing that LSU had already reached agreement with Adams. Others, with real knowledge of the situation (unlike me) will then come on this board and clarify what transpired.
Hootie, for his part, will not likely be very complimentary of LSU if he in fact wants to be part of this class, but is encouraged to sign elsewhere. He would be more likely to not force the issue and revert back to Bama or choose the third option (Ole Miss).
Either ALL THAT or LSU is all over him behind the scenes and he will send in his papers to LSU five minutes after Adams sends his in.
Who knows?
At this point, all we can do is piece together all these bits and pieces of information from various sources and let it play out.
Go ahead and blast me now.
I'm a poli board veteran-I can take it.

What about Battle, Voohries, Adams even Paris.
Do we really need 4 in this class?
Should we go for 5?
Maybe an all-safety class?
