It is bribery or pay for play, whichever you want to call it, but apparently it's legal in college football and money is being thrown around like Mardi Gras moonpies!

You don’t have one company pay you to work for someone else.

Do you think when a FA picks one team over another based on money that he has been bribed
He is an employee there and being paid as such. With Collectives they are not employees of them.

Employment doesn’t matter. It’s not bribery to be paid for a service.

Why are you hung up on the “employee” thing.

A paid spokesman is not a “employee”. If you listen to a sports talk show or a podcast and they read an add they are not “employees” of that company.
NIL stands for name image and likeness. The collectives pool money from some boosters to ultimately pay the players for their NIL, in effect it may be a “pay for play” but there is something else involved. The player is a spokesman for a certain company or they appear at a business location promote a product on social media etc.

Haven't read through the thread, but...
Bribery is offering gifts, money, etc, to a person in power to influence their decisions or actions. The recruits aren't in a position of power, and you're simply offering them a,"salary" much like you would to a prospective employee.
You made the point several times that the recruit is not an employee (for whatever reason), but a person going on an interview is not an employee, either. Both are being offered money as an influence to join your organization,. That's not bribery.

This happens all the time.
Temp agencies send temp workers to work for other companies. The worker’s checks come from the temp agency.
People also work for subsidiaries of companies but are paid by the “parent company”.

You ever got offered a job while working somewhere else? Call the cops and say the new company is bribing you

Still not the same thing. These guys aren’t employees. That’s what I’m saying. It’s crazy they aren’t employees and held to same standard but can be induced by people other than who they are “working” for.
You’re grasping at straws because you don’t like the state of NIL. I get it, most people don’t like it. The bribery comparison still falls flat and doesn’t make any sense.

They amount to bribery, inducement. No other way to see it. Claiming the schools are not involved is a real hoot!

If none of this is bribery, and a collective can send money to a player and his family based on a promise to attend a school…..
Then how the hell did Christian Dawkins go to jail?
How can a collective pay a kid on the promise to go to that school , but it’s illegal for Adidas or their front man to do the same damn thing?
