ill say this and leave it alone, if anyone finds out the whole story, the kid will never play baseball again, not HS, not juco, not minor leagues, not anything.
and it sucks, because he hasnt been a bad kid there at all the first 3 years. Happy-go-lucky kid. I dunno what changed and that kid needs Barbe and the discipline there way way more than they need him. I know he doesnt have the best home life and outside influences have been getting in his ear but last thing that kid needed was to be out from under the Cechinis and their no nonsense discipline. Very Very good chance he ends up nothing more than another statistic now and I hate that. literally threw his life away and all the people that loved him.

He’s a kid. Kids make mistakes.
We don’t know the whole story here. So until we do, I don’t think I will be crucifying this kid.
Let it play out and go from there.

This is sad. Back in my day, the coach would have pulled his own knife and settled it then and there so everyone could move on with their day. Now this kid's life is ruined.

Agree. Hate to see a kid so talented let it all fall apart because of some bad decisions.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Jay gave him a chance. From what I hear Jay has a structure of mentorship and discipline that’s highly effective. He kind of creates the baseball team as its own bubble and the kids watch out for each other. This young man needs more positive influences in his life.

Well, go ahead and tell us everything that happened since you seem to know. I am in no way condoning what happened, but sometimes kids do stupid things. And he still is a kid.

As I have posted above, I'm friends with parents of current Barbe players. Also friends with a half dozen members of Barbe's faculty and have not heard about anything remotely close to this type of behavior. I've seen Victorian interact with young kids as they really look up to Barbe players in LC and he took the time chat with them and ask what positions they play, etc., etc. And not all of the players are that. Some are very cocky and wouldn't give the young kids the time of day. Very strange deal. Maybe there were signs but I had not heard of any.

I guess pulling a knife on a teacher is the minor offense here.
Thanks for clarifying your stance here.
Nobody in this thread said it was a minor offense. Every single poster made it clear he was done and he should be. You just don’t like him calling out your racist watermelon comment.

Nobody ever pulled a knife on Rick Carpenter I'll tell you that for damn sure.

Umm I do know the whole story, 100% and I really liked the kid, and this wasn’t a kid makes mistakes thing. Lucky he wasn’t charged.
And jay will not give him a chance and he was never going to lsu anyways. Hell he isn’t even eligible for his senior year right now, failing every class he has.

This
Do we know if the coach did anything to provoke the alleged response by him?

The lady that takes care of me goes to most of Barbs’s games.
She has two grandkids to play on the team. She had 3, just graduated and will be going to McNeese. I follow the team pretty closely because she’s always telling me and showing pictures of her grandkids. You are a good poster here.
, You won’t have any trouble from me. Thanks for what you bring to this board.

i dont post much and not much insider info on this board unless cleared to do so. so usually i dont post as i dont want to break that trust

ill just say i was shocked to find out what was said and what happened, floored after knowing the kid

telling a kid he is throwing his whole life away doesn't really rate up there with the whole...let me pull a knife response....or maybe it does and im completely out of touch.
personally i was always under the impression that you respect people trying to mentor you. but maybe im just old school.

That’s the right way to think.

I hate vague posts like this. Either tell the story or don’t post this.

In most cases I would say that this board provides anonymity when posting. Seeing how outspoken you are on certain topics, locals probably know exactly who you are. I respect you're desire to remain silent.....
....But I sure would like to know the deets!
