Because that's what they have to do to defend the indefensible. Every accused rapist defends himself by either denying that he's the guy who did it or by admitting that he had sex with her but "she wanted it". Sometimes they may be telling the truth, but usually it is just a way to put the blame on the victim.
A lot of posters on this board have proudly recounted their own sexual exploits with high school freshmen girls. They have a vested interest in defending their own actions. If Jeremy Hill was wrong to do what he did, they would have to admit that they were wrong to do what they did. In short, these posters see themselves in Jeremy Hill. It's no wonder they want to defend him.
Basically, what you're saying is.. girls rarely lie. Get that white knight shite outta here.
You got it backwards btw. Yes, posters see themselves as Jeremy Hill -- they remember the past -- and they know that it wasn't a big deal. It wasn't rape. It didn't damage the girl.. especially if she offered it. It's just kids being kids and exploring each other because it feels good and the risks are minimal.
In this situation..(if the stories from the school are accurate).. her story didn't change until after mommy and daddy found out about it.

(To give you a hint, Bill Clinton has nothing to do with oral sex between two highschool students)
that reference, if you were smart enough, was in context to oral sex and intercourse. I wouldn't expect a child to understand. Separating kids doesn't work, just ask any CHS student where the term "St Joe's Ho's" comes from.
what about Hill being nearly 19 and a year behind in school? what if he was enrolled at LSU and this happened? Would that have changed anything? I posted that earlier, yet it was not addressed by the <30 croud on here.

The people who write these laws really do not GIVE a frick what punk arse bitches on TD have to say about it.
That doesn't mean everyone has to agree with it. Also if you're so mature start writing like that GTFO and punkass bitches? Act your age.

Absolutely it would change it. If she lied to him and told him she was 18, it shouldn't. If he had reason to suspect that this was a highschool freshman while he was on his own in the real world, it should.
But that's not the case. This is a girl he probably sees every day. He probably hangs out with her outside of school occasionally. They probably hang around the same group of friends. That's highschool.
It's also the reason I feel that it should be handled on a case by case basis. Drawing a line in the sand in regards to age is stupid, but I wouldn't expect politicians to know better..
Fwiw I picked up the Clinton remark. I'm not that young.

LINK or STFU.
It is on VIDEO....
he is >18 and SHOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL and she is 14.
Law says AGAIN YOU >18 She <17 YOU PUT YOUR DICK IN HER MOUTH. ORAL Sexual Battery. You risk going to jail for minimum10 years. The minimum sentence is jail time. There is no allowance for probation regardless of the "willingness" of the act.
I bet the next time you go to a lipstick party you think twice about who might post it on facebook.

Define "rarely". I have never believed the feminist line that "women don't lie" about rape. There have been too many cases that proved otherwise. The accused has to be given the benefit of the doubt. That having been said, I believe that most women are truthful about it.
Are you suggesting that women mostly lie about it? If so, get that Black Knight shite outta here.

Senility bro.. and you're probably at a serious risk for a heart attack getting so fired up you old bastard.
The link wasn't from a news source, you can search for it yourself. If you think a highschool senior (who is only 18, which is normal) deserves 10 years or more of jailtime for receiving a blowie from a freshman chick who offered it.. well.. again, senility.
Damn, you should be more aware of what your kids are getting into.

I'm suggesting that the law (or those enforcing it) gives women a fair bit of leniency and power and that they abuse it. I'm not stupid enough to suggest that they mostly lie about it, but in this situation, it's more than probable. Based off of personal experience.

Anyone who thinks this kid deserves time over this situation (again, provided that no force was used) is out of touch with reality.
I disagree with that.
She is 14 years old.
How young would she have to be in your eyes for it to deserve jail time? 13? 12? 11? This is not a rhetorical question. I'd really like to hear your answer.

Well, if he used force, he deserves jail time. I'd look at the maturity of the two individuals. If, from an investigation, it appears that the girl was manipulated, etc. Toss him away. I've met 14 year olds who I would have sworn are 18. I've met 14 year olds who I thought coulda been 11 or 12. They're all at different levels, and it's ridiculous to draw a line in the sand.
I think intent and consent (regardless of how it is defined by law) are the two most important factors. Hill is hardly an adult. He can't even legally buy tobacco or alcohol. He's only been able to see R rated movies by himself for a year. Thinking of it that way.. it's mind boggling that people want him thrown in jail for a minimum of 10 years.
18 and 14 (in some cases) is fine in my book. It's wrong other times. In this situation I'd recommend probation.

No he wasnt. Yes he looked around, but recommitted to LSU.

What he did was illegal, consent or not. It's like drinking and driving, you know it's illegal but people continue to do it until caught, and if they get caught they should get punished. There is a reason why we have laws in place.
He could have avoided this whole thing. I mean seriously, there wasnt one 17 year old girl at redemptorist that would have gave him a blowie? I find that very hard to believe.
Louisiana is actually lax compared to other states with their age and stat rape laws. But still 18+ has sexual relations with someone who is 14 is illegal in every state for every person.

you cant have stipulations with the law
he broke the law, period. we all know this isnt uncommon, but that doesnt somehow make it ok and less illegal.
maybe she begged for it, but hill still has to know the risk involved and use better judgment. that applies to all people in that situation.

they actually cannot answer that or How old would he have to be. Hill should have finished school last year and should have been on his own at LSU for example. The fact that he wasn't is irrelevant in their eyes. Also, they believe that you have to be "old enough for it to be gross" perspective.
Again, I am 45 and if a friend of my daughter's offered to give me head, I would call her parents after I tried to understand why she would not respect herself more than that.
If he was out of school, it makes no difference. he could have still hung out with her and knew all of her friends and that shite happened. Would that make it any different? NO.
What NONE of these guys are talking about are the other student involved becaues they can GIVE a shite less.

why not? as far as i'm concerned (again, provided he did not force her) it's no different than going 5 over the speed limit.
it's illegal, but it's rarely enforced.

There goes your senility again. The other kid and Hill will be punished in probably the exact same way. Arguing this for Hill is speaking about everyone who is in this situation.

because you cant have wiggle room in cases such a rape, sorry
it's not the same as speeding, or jaywalking, or running a yellow light
if you dont mean to kill someone, you still get jailtime...same thing with this case

Are you serious? Five over is enforced. If you dont believe me then you go five over next to a cop at the end of the month or through a school zone and you tell if it is rarely enforced. Even not using your turn signal is enforced. Are you purposefully trying to hurt someone? No, but it is illegal so if caught you will get a ticket. This isnt even on the same level so it shouldnt even be compared.
You could say oh well you have to see the maturity level of the person. Well yes it is possible a 14 year old is more mature than an 18 year old and it is possible an 18 year old is more mature than a 22 or 23 year old. It makes no diff it was illegal!!! How fricking hard is that to comprehend.
