Auburn knows exactly how this works: Have success, enjoy every minute of it, get in trouble, suck for a little while, wash and repeat.

"every time auburn is worth a shits its because they said frick it and started cheating. late 50s, early 90s and now"

Don't forget the late 70s as well. It's ok. It's hard to keep up with how many times Auburn football has been on major probation.

While being dirty huh......hmmmmm. I'm a huge LSU fan. Not really an Auburn fan but I can't say I consider Chiz as dirty.

then you are either not very bright or don't pay attention to what the NCAA does

FWIW, I don't think Chiz is dirty. I think when they hired him, it was a "hey, you can have the job, but all we need you to do is coach. We'll hire the assistants, we'll take care of the recruiting."

In other words, I think Chiz is really just a puppet that leads the team onto the field on Saturdays.

explain the situation today then?

Obviously AU boosters aren't sitting in a room scared, waiting for the big bad NCAA to come get them.

I know for a fact that when Chizik was DC under Tuberville, he nestled up real close to Bobby Lowder. It was Lowder's influence that got him the job two years ago when NOBODY at Auburn wanted him anywhere near the program after going 5-19 at Iowa State. And we all know how squeaky clean that guy is. Interestingly, Lowder never got along with Tubs because Tubs didn't want to let that slimebag anywhere near the program (along with Lowder's other slimebag buddy, Pat Dye, for whom Auburn has named their field and who almost brought Auburn the death penalty).

The interesting thing about Chizik's stint at Iowa State is how the media really tried to downplay how terrible that team was under his reign there. In the buildup to the BCS title game last year, there was more than one story about how he really couldn't have success at Iowa State blah blah and it wasn't his fault because the situation there was so bad blah blah and that's why they didn't do well. It was such a crock of crap it wasn't even funny. Iowa State wasn't just kind of bad, during his second season there they did NOT beat a team in the FBS. They went 0-10 against teams in the FBS that year. The following year (after he was gone), they were much more competitive, beating a Nebraska team that played in the Big 12 title game and going 3-5 in their Big 12 schedule. They won 6 games against FBS schools that year.

This guy stinks to high heaven and I will be very surprised if Auburn doesn't crash and burn in the next two years.

unless they know the hammer is coming down and are loading up on as many kids as possible when they face USC-like sanctions

look at USC this year (delayed due to appeal)

Then they are not very bright and weren't paying attention to what happened at USC for example.

This of course assumes they are in fact flanting the rules, paying players and did in fact pay Netwon, which at this point is not proven.

ETA: The point is if anyone thinks that because nothing happened with Netwon during the season means AU is free and clear is kidding themselves. They may never get the hammer, but that is yet be determined, if they are half as dirty and brazen as people are alleging in this thread, they'll get nailed sooner or later
