Pooka all day. Rare talent and very football smart. While grades were supposedly an issue, I am told from a very close source that he is qualified.
A few LSU coaches were at Hahnville High yesterday speaking to him and Hahnville coaches.

he told someone LSU has a chance just as much as any other school looking at him right now.

Unless you have seen Pooka play, you can’t make a valid judgement. This kid is unbelievable.

I'm siding with this. I've watched film on both, and watching highlights is a 2 sided issue- one for and one against. On one hand, you're only seeing "highlights" and aren't getting the full picture of the back. On the other hand, you're supposedly seeing their best plays.

With that in mind, I'm going with Pooka.

Well we can take both since we have a coach who won't give out scholarships to 15 safeties, 2 australian punters and a long snapper.

Show me a single play in any of Joiner's highlights where he is a bruiser. The guy doesn't have any highlights of him running anyone over. He's a finesse back in a power back's body. You may think that's advantageous but it's the opposite. He's not a bruiser with shakes. He's a slow scat back with no power.

This is exactly what I was thinking. And he isn't very agile either.

We want them both. We need depth at RB.

Joiner can be a very good back for us- solid player.

Anyone who's seen Pooka Williams play knows we can't let him slip away. This kid is lightning in a bottle.

Pooka seems destined for Kansas
People keep saying that, but I really don't understand the attraction to Kansas for this kid and LSU should make that known to him as well. Kansas hardly has anyone at their games, he'll be playing in front of a weak fan base and they don't get any exposure on tv hardly. He'll be using his exceptional talents in relatively obscurity, that's just crazy imo. At LSU it's just the opposite and they should make him realize that, but Joiner and Williams are different types of RB's, Pooka should be compared to Watkins and Provens.

Pooka is another Reggie Bush I think, but I think he can run more physical when he wants to also. Something Bush could never do.

Absolutely. So many people talk about how fast and elusive he is, and rightfully so, but he's also a player that will drop a shoulder into a defender and break multiple tackles.

Pooka is too good to let out of the state.

Joiner is really only on my radar because of his ranking to be completely honest. Just to say we got a top 5 back. His film doesn't impress me a ton

He's supposedly sticking with Kansas be cause when some schools backed off of him when the grade issue came out, Kansas never let up on him.
I also heard he told someone, LSU has about as much of a chance anyone else recruiting him.

From what I’ve heard of Pooka, we could slot him in just about anywhere. So it’s not like he is necessarily a RB-only recruit.

You guys have to start being realistic with your expectations of LSU's team and coaches.

We don't have enough room to add both Pooka and Joiner. Personally, I'd take Joiner because we play in the SEC, a power run conference. Plus we already have similar back in CEH.

Let Pooka go to Kansas. At his size, I think he's better suited to play in the Big12. Smaller defenders; more spread oriented defenses. We can barely get CEH on the field now.

Joiner is a big Athlete but is not really a power runner.

My preference is Pooka then take 2 or 3 of the backs next year.
2019 is a much stronger rb class across the board.

Jmo - Curry is better than Joiner as a power runner.

I don't think it's fair to not call him a power runner because his HS team ran a spread offense.

The thing I like about Joiner is that at his 6'3 size he has very good vision and lateral movement he also runs with a forward lean which means falling forward he's a least going to get you an extra 1-2 yards per explosive carry. Derrick Henry was great at doing this.

Agreed on 2019 class.

CEH runs with power, this player will surprise many of you and is a very good running back.

I agree. Running back is probably the position I'm least worried about for 2018.

And we also have Tae Provens?

The main problem I have with Pooka is that he's 165 pounds is pass protection situations, I believe he's going to really struggle picking up SEC blitz from 250 lb outside/inside linebackers. Also running in between the tackles in the SEC, it's not going to take much to bring him to the ground.

CEH was 200 lb. as a sr. IMO, CEH (Thick-stalky-explosive) is what Pooka needs to be in order to be consistently effective in SEC play.

Those measurements could be wrong. Just looking at him, I think he weighs more than 160

I doubt we would see Pooka in a single back set with blitz pickup responsibility. He would probably be the jet motion in that scenario with CEH or Brosette lined up behind the quarterback.
