Darren Sproles played in the Big12, so did Tavon Austin.

The name that keeps popping up in my head as an SEC guy who did what I envision Pooka doing is Dexter McCluster. I think Ole Miss had another guy similar to Dexter either immediately before or after him, too.

Trindon Holliday was another undersized guy who excelled in the SEC, but I don't think his game was exactly the same as Pooka's.

No, I was talking about Alvin Kamara with regards to Pooka's great stop and start up acceleration. Not too many people can run like that, stopping on the dime and starting up immediately back into the run leaving defenders in the dust as well as cutting on the dime and freezing people, making them look foolish trying to tackle them.

I agree. McCluster is a good ceiling comparison.

Kamara is not a small back though (215-220 lbs). He's able to run through arm tackles and quickly accelerate. Better comparison to Kamara is Travis Etienne.

If no one has watched this kid play in person, please don't judge or assume what he can or cant do. He can run between the tackles. The kid gets asked to do it all and does.
Please don't compare him to CEH either. No comparison especially when it comes to speed.

It's going to be interesting. We also have Cain, Davis, and Emery in the '19 class who may be all be LSU leans (Davis is already committed). Emery is the best back in the country in my eyes. I'm sure O doesn't want it to be too crowded for them.

I was at the Covington game. Please don't compare running in between the tackles in a HS game to running in between the tackles in an SEC game.

Pooka has All-American potential in the Big12 not the SEC.

I'm not talking about size, I know what Kamara's size is, you just took my reply to another poster(rmnldr) the wrong way. I was agreeing with him about Pooka Williams' running intangibles, his stop and start up acceleration, elusiveness, etc.

He has a great vision and awareness too. Has football smarts. We can bulk him up some. I just think he would be great on special teams and in Canada's offense.

Are you going to just keep posting emojis as counterpoints?

I hope we get both of them. But IF we can't get both, I'd have to choose Harold Joiner because of his size. I really want BOTH of them, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if he plays more H-Back at LSU than running back.

I like how posters are saying Pooka won’t excel in the SEC when there are players with his size excelling in the NFL (remember he hasn’t started a college weight lifting program).
My answer is take both. Both are versatile players that can play different positions if needed.

He’ll have some designed runs out of the H-Back position but he’ll definitely see more time at running back. He played in the spread in HS, he displays good run awareness in the spread. May even see him in the Wildcat.

I think next year will be the toughest decisions this staff will have to make on running backs. There are three elite guys in next years class that all have genuine interest in us.

This. Don't see why it's 1 or the other. Pooka is your KR/PR from day 1, as well as a specialty back/ slot receiver.
