Is Gunner going to commit or not? I was led to believe it would be a done deal by now. Sorry for my impatience

Gunner called Les on Friday night and told him he was going to come play for LSU. That I know for a fact...the timetable for the announcement, however, is anyone's guess at this point.

I have learned never to trust recruiting rumors, or experts. When it happens, it happens.

And even then after the verbal it's not real until they sign, get cleared by the Clearinghouse, enroll and step on practice field

It definitely feels good to hear that multiple sources are "claiming" that Gunner is either a "lock" to LSU or that he has already expressed a damn strong want to win ( in Purple and Gold ) by calling Miles and confirming his LSU commitment.

......of course, the Irish are claiming that there still is not a single shred of evidence that he has, or will, pick LSU.......and continue to scream that everything is in their favor and the odds are closer to 85% ND 15% LSU

Gunner appears to be a very level-headed, modest, quiet, let my play do the talking type of dude. When it was reported he'd be stealing Jesus' thunder with an announcement coming today, well, I laughed. How preternaturally arrogant would that be. He's like the least arrogant 5* QB there ever was.

He'll be the biggest man on campus -- by far -- at Vandy; just like Cutler. Here, he'll be big -- he'll be pimped to no end -- and he'll be a winner, a champion, but he sure as hell won't put up the same (NFL-swooning) numbers as he would at Vandy. A la Cutler.

If he's all about Gunner, he'll go to Vandy, and get a great education with lots of outside of football opportunities in life because of it. He'll get just as great an education at the Stick, but it won't come with all the presumptuous bells and whistles of prestige that Vandy relies on, considering they're only still in the SEC because the SEC needs at least one school to "legitimize" it's academic street cred.

If he's as fierce a competitor as say a Tebow, or a Newton, especially considering he'll have 2 years to learn and grow from Mett to boot, it's a no-brainer: he's a Tiger through and through already.

It's either/or. And we'll all know tomorrow. Hope he's a Tiger. But won't lose a second of sleep if he's not. After all, this ain't QB U, and Vandy sure as shite ain't OL U.

First rule of the hunting trip thread is: you don't talk about the hunting trip thread.

i think he would have better numbers here than vandy don't you? I mean he will have better athletes to throw to and a better run game plus how do you think vandy will do against sec defenses every year. He would get crushed

Yeah, me too! Unfortunately I have learned through experience not to get my hopes up regarding 18-19 guys with as much pressure as they have on them. I think the rumor mongers mean well, and may have a sliver of truth but things change, and disinformation is spread.

Hope for the best, don't get crushed if it doesn't happen.

IMO, it's better publicity for everyone involved (LSU included), if he announces on Monday as opposed to a holiday weekend where everyone in the country is too busy with other stuff to notice.

Could also be miles saying, "hey, enjoy the holiday with your family and we'll take care of all this stuff on Monday and get you officially committed to LSU "
