Talks about his older brother's influence on him all for the better, and what a terrific player he is that's really underrated and probably the state's best defensive player last year. Will be Devin White's replacement eventually, but the kid is really good enough to play early on for LSU. LINK

Devin White's replacement?
Zero chance of that. If he plays, he'll be an outside LB.

He is listed as inside. Could possibly work in the rotation with Taylor at some point?

According to Dave Aranda in his Advocate interview the other day:

quote:

ILB Micah Baskerville (cross-training at Rover and Mack)

Rover and Mack are both inside linebacker positions. So you're just talking out of your arse.

Baskerville most certainly has the mettle for the inside. And he'll easily be at a fast 225 lbs, maybe more by the start of SEC play. He'll be at 240 by the time he's fighting for White's spot.

I'm excited to see what his instincts look like, especially recognition and first step. Aggressiveness is there for sure.

Dude is a pit bull who doesn't whiff often (understands angles and positioning). As long as he's taught how to engage and then shed blocks, he'll remain a pit bull.

Micah Baskerville will be a killer inside LB. in fact, I think he will push our two great sophomores very hard for Devin White’s job. MB is a natural born killer with a great instinct for ILB.

We will see who's opinion is correct sometime in the future. Maybe he had (2) "not so good games" when I watched him.

He's very good. Saw him play 5xs this year and left very impressed every time. He'll have a great 3-4 yrs @ LSU.. can't wait to see him out on the field.

This is legit one of the most ridiculous first replies I’ve ever seen

I'm pretty comfortable siding with the opinion of the best defensive coordinator in college football over yours. But I guess we will indeed see in the near future

Devin white is a first round draft choice imo. I like the freshmen lbers coming in but white is a beast and will be a first rounder next year.

I caught an Evangel game last year and you absolutely hear it when he makes a tackle.

The OP did use the word eventually. You do realize that he was not saying that Baskerville would take White's starting role on day 1.

LMAO Which is exactly what many of these people do when they have no clue about the game of football but want to project the illusion they do. So, they talk out the side of their arse. With his athleticism and strength, Baskerville could play any LB position on the field. I'm sure Aranda will put him in the position best suited for his mentality and where he will be able to contribute best to the success of the defense.

I did wonder if that was his [mis]interpretation.

Amen to you Mister JetsCoach!!! Especially Trust Aranda. I didn't expect him to be as smart as he is, but the dude is a master of defense. IMO, better than Saban.
