I think this is pretty insane. I’m not saying he’s an NFL bound guy and all of this, but I think this list is pretty nuts. Every single person on that list is either in the NFL or will be. Pretty good track record right here. IMO a nice late grab. Geaux Desmond.

3-star edge rusher Desmond Little becomes the late addition for #LSU.

Others who landed the final spot in the class when they had an extra scholarship?

2017: Justin Jefferson
2016: Lloyd Cushenberry
2015: Foster Moreau
2014: Darrel Williams
2013: Deion Jones
2012: Duke Riley

Impressive list. Three are in the NFL with three TBD. If Little lives up to that list we got a star.

I think Moreau, Cush, and Jeff will all be drafted for sure.

For sure. Foster will be drafted this year. Cush looked like a damn good SEC center this year, Jets is already really good.

I’m not sure on that one. Just noticed that year was missing.

Justin is slowly becoming a star receiver and Lloyd is the best center in the SEC. This list is insane.

Wouldn’t be Tracy. He signed on the early signing day in December. The Burrow transfer would be my guess.

This is an article done by the 24/7 guy (Shea Dixon) who runs the LSU site. It shows that 6 of the lowest rated LSU recruits the last 10 classes have played in the NFL. AND that is with 3 still attending classes at LSU.

This is just the LOWEST rated recruit for each class the last 10 years excluding JUCOs and special teams players - kickers, long snappers, punters.

quote:

2008: Lavar Edwards No. 959 overall prospect, No. 32 in Louisiana
He was a fifth round pick in the NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans

2009: Josh Williford No. 1,066 overall prospect, No. 34 in Alabama
Injuries forced him to call off his football career. He served out his final year on campus as a student coach for the Tigers in 2013.

2010: Alfred Blue No. 66 RB, No. 758 overall prospect, No. 19 in Louisiana
a sixth round NFL Draft selection by the Houston Texans, where he was on roster from 2014-17. ETA: Is still with Houston and is their 4th all-time leading rusher.

2011: Ronald Martin No. 43 CB, No. 624 overall prospect, No. 24 in Louisiana
signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an unrestricted free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft. He’s since spent time in the NFL with the Seahawks, the New York Jets, the Baltimore Ravens and two stints with the Indianapolis Colts.

2012: Kavahra Holmes No. 86 WR, No. 763 overall prospect, No. 30 in Louisiana
announced he was transferring out of LSU

* A side note, the second-lowest ranked recruit in LSU’s class that year was Jalen Mills, who went on to start immediately as a true freshman at LSU and was a starter in the secondary for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles this past year.

2013: Duke Riley No. 42 OLB, No. 539 overall prospect, No. 22 in Louisiana
he went on to be selected in the third round of the NFL Draft with the No. 75 overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons.

2014: Russell Gage No. 74 ATH, No. 898 overall prospect, No. 32 in Louisiana
LSU’s Pro Day in April catapulted him up NFL Draft boards, with many mock drafts pointing to Gage as a late-round steal for an NFL team. ETA: He was drafted.

2015: Foster Moreau No. 74 TE, No. 1,984 overall prospect, No. 86 in Louisiana
a multi-year starter at tight end who is now one of the team’s veteran leaders - and certainly a name in the mix to take over the No. 18 jersey. Moreau’s slated to start at tight end again for LSU this fall.

2016: Lloyd Cushenberry No. 82 OG, No. 1,522 overall prospect, No. 71 in Louisiana
Fast forward two years and Cushenberry is now the heir apparent to Ethan Pocic and Will Clapp as the team’s next starting center, a position he took the first-team reps at this spring.

2017: Justin Jefferson No. 308 WR, No. 2,164 overall prospect, No. 76 in Louisiana
It appears Jefferson will be a starter for the Tigers during his sophomore season next fall.

And none of these players were ranked in the top 20 at their positions. Even the five that have ALREADY played in the NFL. If Gage gets drafted (HE DID) that will be six of the 10 lowest rated recruits to play in the NFL. With Moreau, Cushenberry and Jefferson still playing at LSU.

I'm not sure Darrel Williams really does either. They both committed to LSU in early December.

From Wiki:

Regarded as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com, Jones was ranked as the No. 31 outside linebacker prospect in the class of 2012. Recruited by Corey Raymond, Jones originally committed to Nebraska in August 2011, but changed his commitment to Louisiana State after receiving a late offer in December 2011.
